Took a while to find this website and info. Not on nx Dundee or traveling websites. Don’t be fooled by the comment ‘standardised times’ as I will enlighten you to the true meaning which is ‘less buses’. Shocking, shameful, sickening and sneaky. I am disgusted

suzy says:

Jim, thanks for your comment – I do what I can! The new timetables appear to be PVR neutral or plus one, depending upon who’s interpretation. The standardising of running times on Douglas follows problems – I am told – with the Friday timetable having too much running time. Now, he Monday – Thursday timetable will also cover Fridays. There are some withdrawals, and some improvements i.e. Whitfield every 15 mins on Sundays. I should have the timetables up here in the next fortnight, as I’m on holiday next week!

JIM CRAIG says:

STANDARDISE MEAN THE SAME TIMETABLE MON/FRI .NOT MON/THURS AND DIFFRENT ON FRIDAYS ,AS PRESENT. ON THE WHOLE IT GOING TO BE A LOT BETTER SERVICE THAN IT IS NOW.PEOPLE WILL SOON GET USED TO THE CHANGES.

suzy says:

Yes Jim, that’s right. I did the list myself, comparing the old and new timetables.

Rather than spilling out into a debate here, further debate can be shared with Dundee Area Bus Forum – http://www.dundeeareabusforum.com – where we discuss everything in the greater Dundee area.

Jim melvin says:

Please do not submit comments in capitals as this is quite rude. Also the poor punctuation and grammar leads me to believe that the author was hurried in defence of their comments. ‘On the whole’ speaks for itself! I stand by what I said earlier which is based on previous advertised ‘improvements’ to our bus services

Andreana says:

I heard the 29 was going good down the perth road am I right ?? If not what buses are omg I am so confused I think I will be among the few that will be lost haha oh great site btw had to share it on my Facebook.

suzy says:

Hello Andreana,
Thanks for your message. No problem… I’m confused too! :-)
Along Perth Road as far as the Blackness Library – Service 5, Outer Circle, 17 (no change to Stagecoach)
Along Perth Road as far as Ninewells Avenue – Service 5, Outer Circle

The 29 won’t be serving Perth Road, but it will be changing. After the old 29 terminus at Dunholm Road, the bus will return to South Road, Mallaig Avenue/Gowrie Park, before going direct to Ninewells Hospital. This provides more buses from South Road to Ninewells, 4 an hour. Currently one, which is to be lost in changes to the OC.

Martin Anderson says:

Yet again you have failed the people of Charleston, Now the 29 bypasses Tesco & Asda so from Lochee to Charleston the 29 bypasses all the supermarket and what are the old people to do now git taxi instead of the bus.
We have plenty of buses during the day going to the hospital why more at the people of Charleston expense and also we on the 29 route get a hourly service at night from about 6pm and first bus in the morning is about 7am.
I say again who are you serving here as it is not the good people of Charleston

suzy says:

New timetables are now all above – download and draw your own conclusions.

I am an ice hockey fan and at weekends at night was able to get a 9 or 10 to and from the rink now there are no buses going there can you explain why.the site has the ice rink pictures and restaurants why make hard to get a bus to night.

Erna says:

Re Jane S query. . I cannot see the 9 or 10 being viable options for Jane to get to and from work. I expect she would like the fastest most direct route possible. Correct me if I am wrong, but does the 9 and 10 not go “all around the houses” almost literally?
I live in Gowrie Park and can only see a dotted line on the new map for the number 9 and 10 route passing down Mallaig Ave. it’s not clear (to me at least) when and how often they run.
I used to 5 since its inception, thru all its changes and will sorely miss this service – as will many of my neighbours. It was great for the Perth Road , the town and Broughty Ferry. I hope it will be reconsidered to include Gowrie Park and the Technology Park before too long.

john sawers says:

Great customer service still awaiting an answer to the email I sent on the 11th of september

suzy says:

Erna,
The 9A/10A – evening & Sunday – run through Gowrie Park.
The 9/10 – Daytimes – run via the Technology Park.
Service 29 will run via Gowrie Park/Mallaig Avenue every day of the week.
For travel from the Tech Park, simply stay on the bus at Ninewells Hospital for through travel – in other words, similar to what the 5 did before last year. This gives a journey time of 25 minutes or so.

Replied to your second comment.

Hello there John,
Apologies for the delay in replying to your comments – I was up in Dundee this past weekend (from home in Herts) and am only now catching up.. This site is maintained in my spare time, and I do not run the bus services – just help to make details like this more widely available.
The company’s idea was to make the Outer Circle simpler for staff and passengers alike. However, personally, and my views only – I’m with you. I was on one of the journeys on the last Saturday of the old route – two got off at Camperdown. The stops retained, had, nobody getting on or off!
I would strongly recommend you contact Xplore Dundee directly – email travelcare@nationalexpress.com or telephone 0844 499 0589. They will be able to log your complaint and investigate directly.
Thanks

Dougie Meldrum says:

I use the 28 service from Charleston 4 days a week to get to and from work. I board the bus at the first stop in Liff Road. The initial time of arrival was 06.41, this then changed to 06.42 and has now changed to 06.44, but the bus arrives EARLIER and then sits at Lochee High Street for 5 minutes to get back on schedule. It then arrives at the Guardian Royal Building at 07.01 unfortunately I start work at 07.00. Previously the bus arrived at 06.56 which suited a number of people starting work at 07.00.
Then on a Saturday there was a bus at 06.38 this has now GONE completely and the nearest one on the timetable is 06.52 which gets into town at 07.14 again too late for a number of people who start their work at 07.00.
Who designed these new timetables and are they for passengers or just the usual cuts to service?

Surely someone with a bit of common sense should realise that at that time of the day it is people starting work who are heading for the town with possible start times of 06.00, 06.30, 07.00 etc. and the buses should arrive in town just before these times.
Please put these buses back to their previous times which suited a number of passengers.

suzy says:

Hello Dougie,

Thanks for your post.

I don’t have control over local bus services – I do this site to promote them, and making finding information more easily accessibile.

I would strongly recommend you contact Xplore Dundee directly – and they can come back to you directly. All the contact details and the like can be found at http://www.dundeebuses.info/maps/DunBusFAQ.pdf

Thanks
