Archive Service Changes and Updates
From Thursday 12th February 2009, minor route change to Service 28 in Charleston. Please download the updated timetable for further information.
From Sunday 1st March 2009, revised route and timetable for Services 15 and 17. Service 15 will run four times an hour Monday to Saturday daytimes, Service 17 will operate every 30 minutes daytimes and evenings, seven days a week. A new timetable can be downloaded here.
From Sunday 1st March 2009, National Express Coaches commence their new 2009/10 timetables. I’ve now uploaded a new 538 timetable, and a 590/592 timetable.
Monday 6th April 2009 is a Dundee public holiday, and holiday timetables apply.
From Monday 13th April 2009, Stagecoach Fife will have a fares increase. Click here for further details.
From Monday 27th April 2009, Stagecoach Fife Services 42/42A (Cupar – Ninewells Hospital) and Stagecoach Fife & Strathtay 96/96A (St Andrews – Ninewells Hospital) will operate see minor timetable alterations at peak times to improve reliability, and route revised to operate via Tom McDonald Avenue instead of Ninewells Avenue. From Monday 27th April 2009, Stagecoach Express X54 (Dundee Seagate Bus Station – Edinburgh) will operate to a slightly revised timetable. On Mondays to Fridays the 0810 journey from Dundee will terminate at Glenrothes, and the 1540 and 1640 journeys from Dundee will operate 5 minutes later. Download the new timetable here.
From Monday 27th April 2009, Megabus Service M11 (Aberdeen – Dundee – Manchester – London) will observe a new stopping point in Manchester. The new stop will be in Shudehill Interchange – two Metrolink (tram) stops from Piccadilly Gardens. This replaces the current stop in Chorlton Street, see www.gmpte.com for more.

Industrial Action
April 2009 – UNITE members at Travel Dundee have voted to accept a pay deal, the dispute is now over.
Monday 4th May 2009 is a Dundee public holiday, and holiday timetables apply.
On Saturday 9th May 2009, Travel Dundee Service 51 (Dundee City Centre – Fowlis) will operate for the last time, following cessation of financial support from Dundee City Council. Updated information – from the following day (Sunday 10th May 2009) a revised service will appply. Sunday Service will be operated as Service 51, as now, by Stagecoach Strathtay, except running to & from Dundee Bus Station once again (and the 1230 bus from Dundee will now leave at 1235). The Monday to Saturday service will be replaced by a new Service 30/31 which will run as a circular from Charleston, South Road Tesco, to Gourdie, Liff, Fowlis and Birkhill, up to every 30 minutes. The timetable has been designed to connect with Service 17 at Tesco, providing links to Ninewells Hospital, Technology Park, and Dundee City Centre. A new timetable for the revised 51 and new 30/31 can be had here. NOTE – this timetable has been replaced with a revised edition, the original one can be found here.
From Sunday 10th May 2009, Travel Dundee are to withdraw some Saturday morning journeys on Services 1A/1B (City Centre – St Marys), 4 (Camperdown Leisure Park – City Centre) and 22 (St Marys/Downfield – Ninewells Hospital). No change to Monday-Friday or Sunday services at this time. Some other routes are losing their subsidy for Saturday morning journeys at this time, although there have been no changes to any other routes registered as of yet – these may happen later in the year. New timetables for Services 1, 1A, 1B, Service 4, and Services 22, 22A, 22B, 22C, X22, now availbile for download.
From Monday 18th May 2009, Citylink/Megabus/Parks of Hamilton services from Aberdeen/Dundee to Glasgow/Edinburgh will be altered. At the same time, Service 973 from Dundee to Oban will recommence Summer 2009 operation, to a revised timetable. New 973 timetable now availbile for download, as are the new M8, M9 (Glasgow – Aberdeen), M90, M91, M92 (Edinburgh).
On Friday 30th May 2009 , Stagecoach Strathtay 72 (Bus Station & Windor Street Circular) will operate for the last time. The service operated using the same vehicle as Services 137/138/139, which have been lost to TeeJay. For the moment, Service 69 provides an alternative to Windsor Street, Magdlen Yard Road and Roseangle.
On Saturday 31st May 2009, Stagecoach Strathtay 137, 138, 139 will run for the last time (no changes to the JP Coaches journey), following loss of contract from Angus Council to TeeJay.
From Monday 1st June 2009, TeeJay Travel will commence operation of Services 137, 138, 139 (Downfield – Auchterhouse – Tealing – Murroes – Dundee), to a revised timetable and route. The new route now includes Auchterhouse Park. New timetables for the Auchterhouse/Bridgefoot area and for the Murroes/Tealing areas.
From Monday 1st June 2009, Stagecoach Strathtay/JP Coaches Services 21, 21A, 21B will be revised. Revised timetable, JP journey withdrawn.
From Monday 1st June 2009, JP Coaches Service 81 (Carnoustie/Monifieth – Forfar) will commence a new route and timetable. Carnoustie and Monifieth will now be served six days a week by this route.
New Short Notice Change – From Monday 15th June 2009, Travel Dundee 30 and 31 will be slightly altered to meet the requirements of staff at Liff Hospital. The 1236 Service 31 from South Road Tesco will become a 30, and the 1936 Service 30 from South Road Tesco will now run as Service 31. Download the new timetable here.
From Monday 6th July 2009, Stagecoach Strathtay will be introducing a number of service changes. Services 13/13A, 74 and 76 will be withdrawn. A revised timetable for Service 39 will apply, and this will serve Dundee Bus Station. Service 39A is revised too, and will terminate at Ninewells Hospital during the main part of the day on Sundays. Services 73/73A will oprate to a revised timetable, with Broomhill Drive journeys extended to Ashludie Hospital, with one bus an hour continuing to Ethiebeaton Park. Service 73B is a new service (included in the 73/73A timetable) that replaces the evening and Sunday service to Monifieth previously provided by the 77 group. Addiitonally on Sundays, 73B will provide hourly links direct along Perth Road to/from Invergowrie and/or Kingoodie. Service 75 is a new hourly Monday to Saturday daytime service from Dundee City Centre to Ethiebeaton Park via Dundee Road and Grange Road, whereas Service 77-77C are revised to no longer include Monifieth (see 73, 73B and 75). Instead, parts of the main Service 77 will follow the 13 route west of the city centre to Ninewells Hospital, and Invergowrie/Kingoodie. 77A/77B will operate between Wormit and Dundee City Centre loop only. Service 88 will have a revised timetable, losing the late afernoon service.
An additional late notice change from the same date is the diversion of the 1850 and 2000 X54 journeys from Dundee to Glenrothes, to run via all bus stops in Newport and Wormit, replacing some withdrawn journeys on the 77 group. Download the new timetable here.

From Sunday 16th and Monday 17th August 2009, service changes are being implemented by Moffat & Williamson, Stagecoach (mostly in services in Fife and crossing the Tay Road Bridge) and Travel Dundee. For full details of the changes, and links to all new timetables, click here.
To update the list of August changes, From Monday 17th August 2009, Stagecoach Strathtay 57 will be tweaked following changes as a result of the opening of the new Blairgowrie Schools Campus, and retendering of some services by Perth & Kinross Council. The 0650 journey from Dundee will extend beyond Perth bus station to Aviva. The 1735 journey from Perth bus station will commence from Aviva at 1720. Additionally the 1500 journey from Perth bus station will depart 5mins earlier Monday to Saturday and operate via Kinrossie. A new timetable can be downloaded.
Changes are also happening on Monday 17th August 2009 to Stagecoach 77/77A/77B/77C, with some additional journeys. This timetable can now be downloaded.
A further final last minute change was registered to commence on Monday 17th August 2009 to Stagecoach Perth and Strathtay Services 16/16A/16B/16X. There are no changes to the route or the timetable, but the excercise was merely one to refresh the data on the new electronic bus service registration system.
Monday 31st August 2009 is a UK bank holiday. Bus services in Dundee will operate to a normal timetable.

From Monday 5th October 2009, all Travel Dundee services will operate to a Saturday service on the four Dundee Public Holidays – the first Monday of April, first Monday of May, fourth Monday of July, and the first Monday of October. The services will be unaltered through the rest of the year. An updated 9/10/11/12, 30/31 and 32/32B/33/33A timetable can be downloaded. All other timetables were updated when they changed in May or August.
From Monday 5th October 2009, the Scottish Citylink/megabus.com/Parks of Hamilton Aberdeen – Dundee – Edinburgh/Glasgow services M8, M9, M90, M91, M92 will have a revised timetable. The timetable includes a stop at the Technology Park on a morning M8 from Perth (replacing Invergowrie) as well as new commuter links between Dundee and Perth Aviva. You can now download the new Aberdeen-Dundee-Edinburgh (M90, M91, M92) and Aberdeen-Dundee-Glasgow (M8, M9) timetables. From the same date, Service 973 (Dundee – Oban) ceases for another year, at the end of it’s summer seasonal operation.
Website update 25th October 2009 – all references to Travel Dundee (except archive) have been revised to read National Express Dundee. Rumours on the potential for another future owner or three aren’t mentioned here, but can be discussed on the enthusiasts group Dundee Area Bus Forum.
From Monday 16th November 2009, Stagecoach services around Forfar will be subject to alteration. This includes their 20/20C, 21/21A, 22/22A/22D, 27 into Dundee. Service 20 will have the short journeys to Forfar extended to Kirriemuir (as a replacement for Kirremuir journeys on the 27), and a revised timetable introduced. Download the new timetable here, which includes Service 20A (alternate journeys running around Kirriemuir in the opposite direction) and Service 20B (the Forfar – Dundee Colleges – Dundee journey formerly provided on the 20). Services 21/21A/21B will see minor timetable changes, download the new timetable here. Service 22/22A/22D has a revised timetable, with more journeys, and all journeys running via Charleston (the one in Angus near Glamis, not in Dundee), download the new timetable here. Service 27 is included for connections, download the new timetable here.
From Monday 16th November 2009, Stagecoach Strathtay fares will be revised. It says here that “The single adult fare across the Strathtay network will increase by 5p or in some areas 10p, which will also affect return prices and 10 journey ticket costs… A price freeze will be placed on all dayrider and megarider tickets however, maintaining great value for money for regular travellers.” Passengers requiring further information should contact the operator directly.
From Sunday 22nd November 2009, National Express Dundee Services 2, 2S and 4 will see changes to the route and timetable. However, a further last minute change has been registered. The later change involved buses northbound not using Lochee High Street, instead being diverted via Lochee By Pass, as a result of a road closure until further notice. Download the updated timetable here. Also, from the same date, National Express Dundee 23 will have a revised timetable. Buses will now run every 90 minutes instead of every hour, but there will be a Service 24, operating the other way around the circle every 90 minutes, which will combine to provide a bus every 45 minutes, instead of hourly. Service 30/31 is to be altered from the same date, with the service extended to/from the Medipark, Ninewells Hospital, Charleston Drive and Arran Drive, with the early journey from the City Centre renumbered 51.(!!!) From Sunday 22nd November 2009, Stagecoach Strathtay services 73/73A will have a revised timetable. To help improve reliability, the hourly journeys to Ethiebeaton Park will no longer serve Broomhill Drive. The 0738 Ashludie to Dundee Whitehall Street Mon-Fri journey will be extended to Ninewells Hospital. The 0818 Dundee High Street to Ashludie journey Mon-Fri journey will be withdrawn. A new 73 journey will be introduced on Sunday mornings departing Dundee High Street at 0834 operating to Arbroath bus station. You can download the new 73/73/73B timetable now, and the company have also updated and reissued the 39/39A timetable.

An additional short-notice change applied from Saturday 5th December 2009, to National Express Dundee Services 32, 32B, 33, 33A. When the timetable was registered to start in October (nominally to change the public holiday service), the Saturday journeys via the Pensions Office/Claverhouse East Business Park, Jack Martin Way, were not all included (I thought this was initally in error, hence it was not mentioned as a change to the Saturday service here). From this date, the main service to Fintry does not change, but there will be a service via the Pensions Office until about 1400 on Saturdays. Get the new timetable here.
From Monday 7th December 2009, Stagecoach Fife Service X54 will be retimed on morning southbound journeys between Ferrytoll Park & Ride and Edinburgh. New timetable can be had here.
From Monday 4th January 2010, National Express Dundee (formerly Travel Dundee) will have a number of changes to fares – some up, some down, some unchanged. Flexi Value tickets will be withdrawn from sale at this point. Further details now online.
From Saturday 23rd January 2010, Stagecoach Fife Service X54 will have a change to the route. It is understood that the change refers to the route in central Edinburgh being altered, following the reopening of Princes Street.
From Monday 1st February 2010, Fishers Tours have registered some changes to their Scottish Express services. At the moment, 225, 229, 232, 233, 238, 245 have been deregistered, without replacement. The Fishers Tours website makes no mention of changes to the services for this year, so no further details yet. Updated – these six services have been withdrawn with effect from 31st January 2010. This follows a public enquiry by the Traffic Commissoner, following problems in operating the Scottish Express network earlier in 2009. These will not be re-registered, as the operator’s licence has been restricted. (Source – transcript of the enquiry distributed by NDS). Updated yet later – all services will continue without change. New timetables for all these routes have been updated below, which includes the dates of operation of these services for 2010. Updated even later – the operator has been given permission to continue operation of these services without change, pending an appeal to the Transport Tribunual, due for late March 2010.

This site was launched last year, with a huge number of visits since then. In the last 12 months up to the evening of last night, this website has had 24,504 unique visits, which is equal to 199 a day, and 30,045 page views (223 per day). From Monday 15th February 2010, there will be changes to various Stagecoach Fife and Strathtay services over the Tay Road Bridge – 42, X42, X54, 91, 96, 96A. Service 42 will be revised to operate every 20 minutes (Mon to Sat daytime) between Tayport (Shanwell Road South) and Dundee city centre, with one journey per hour extending to Cupar. Evening and Sunday journeys provided on behalf of Fife Council will continue to operate to/from Ninewells Hospital. Some school-time journeys on Service 42 will display Service 342, and start/end at Bell-Baxter High School, Cupar. Service 91 will be revised to operate hourly between St.Andrews and Leuchars rail station from approx 0900 to 1500 on Mondays to Saturdays, serving St.Andrews Community Hospital, Craigtoun Park and Strathkinness. The section of route between Leuchars and Dundee via Wormit will no longer be served, although connections will be available at Leuchars with service 99 to/from Dundee. Moffat & Williamson Service 92 also provides links between Wormit/Newport and St Andrews. Service 96/96A will be revised to operate hourly between St.Andrews and Ninewells Hospital during much of the day (Monday to Saturday), serving Leuchars, Tayport (Queen Street only), and Dundee city centre. Early morning, evening and Sunday journeys will continue to serve Strathkinness as service 96A. Service X42 will be increased (from the current one bus per direction, weekdays only) to provide an hourly link for much of the day (Mon to Sat) between Kirkcaldy and Ninewells Hospital, serving Forth Park & Victoria Hospitals, Asda Kirkcaldy, Eastfield Industrial Estate, Woodside, Glenrothes, Ladybank, Elmwood College, Cupar (incl.Trading Estate), Balmullo, Newport (peak time journeys only), Dundee city centre, Dundee railway station, and during the day will extend to Riverside Drive, Dundee Technology Park (Apollo Way and Explorer Road), Gowrie Park Mallaig Avenue, Spey Drive, and Ninewells Hospital. This will supplement the existing service X54 between Glenrothes and Dundee to provide half hourly departures for much of the day between these locations. The existing Mon to Fri peak time journey numbered X42 between Dunfermline/Glenrothes and Dundee will be incorporated into the X54 timetable. (Note that the X42 and X54 are now in seperate downloads). Service X54 Monday to Friday additional journeys will operate at 0640 from Dunfermline to Dundee via Cowdenbeath, Glenrothes and the normal route via the A92, and at 1710 from Dundee to Glenrothes to connect with the 1805 X24 journey from Glenrothes to Dunfermline. These will both replace journeys on the “old” X42. In addition the 0810 (Mon -Fri) Dundee to Glenrothes journey will run 10 minutes later, whilst the 2000 (Mon – Sat) Dundee to Glenrothes journey will run 10 minutes earlier. The additional journeys operating on Saturdays between Glenrothes and Dundee have been withdrawn, but new Service X42 will provide an extra hourly service, Monday to Saturday. New timetables can be had for each route, by clicking on the links.
From Monday 25th January 2010 Sunday 21st February 2010, National Express Dundee Services 30/31 will be extended further beyond the Medipark to/from Invergowrie village. Note that this change was originally mentioned by the operator to be starting on 25th January, but the Office of the Traffic Commisoner would not accept the change until 90 days from the date of the last change. An updated timetable is now uploaded.
Temporary changes to bus services around the Tay Road Bridge South Access, Newport, Wormit and Gauldry areas, from 10th to 14th February inclusive, plus over some weekends in March – click here for further information

Service 138/139 Murroes timetable has been reissued, incorporating changes on Services 22/22A in November.
I have also now uploaded the 2010 timetables for seasonal express services to Blackpool and T In The Park.
From Monday 22nd March 2010, JP Coaches Service 320 will operate to a revised timetable. The section of service between Kirriemuir and Forfar is to become On Request Only. It does not mention in the timetable how to book, but presumably a phone call to the operator during the day would be a good start. A new timetable is now uploaded.
Friday 1st April 2010 is the UK Good Friday public holiday. Normal Friday timetable applies to all bus services in the City.
Monday 5th April 2010 is a Dundee public holiday, as well as being Easter Monday bank holiday. National Express Dundee will run to a Saturday timetable on all services. Everything else should be running to a normal Monday timetable.

From Monday 24th April 2010, a fares revision will affect Stagecoach services in Fife. Click here for further details. At the same time, a fares revision affected Stagecoach Strathtay, although DayRider and MegaRider tickets were unaffected.
Monday 3rd May 2010 is a Dundee local holiday, Fife local holiday, as well as the May Day bank holiday. National Express Dundee will run to a Saturday timetable on all services. Stagecoach services to/from Fife will be running to a Saturday timetable. Everything else should be running to a normal Monday timetable.
From Monday 3rd May 2010, Moffat & Williamson Service 92 will have a new route & timetable. The change will be that buses now run into St Andrews via Union Street, Market Street and Church Street. Click here for the new route and updated timetable.
From Monday 3rd May 2010, Stagecoach Strathtay Hospital Link Service 333 will have a new route & timetable. During the main part of the day, the service is now extended to/from Royal Victoria Hospital. Click here for the new timetable.
From Sunday 9th May 2010, National Express Dundee revised the method of working out fare stages – there are now around a third less. As a result, some fares have gone up from £1.20 to £1.45, and quite a few have came down from £1.45 to £1.20. Some have changed on some services, but not on others. You are strongly advised to download this fares guide, and work out your new journey. Contact the bus operator directly, if you have any questions.
From Monday 24th May 2010, new timetables start for the Megabus/Parks/Scottish Citylink Services M8, M9, M90, M91, M92, and the summer-only Service 973. Click here for new timetables for Aberdeen-Dundee-Glasgow (M8, M9), Aberdeen-Dundee-Edinburgh (M90, M91, M92) and Oban-Dundee (973).

From Monday 31st May 2010, changes will apply to several routes. Click on the bold route title below, to download the new timetable.
Stagecoach Service 20: Dundee – Forfar – Kirriemuir
A revised timetable will be introduced on Monday to Saturday incorporating a reduced frequency between Forfar and Kirriemuir, with all buses operating anti-clockwise around Kirriemuir as service 20. The basic half hourly service between Forfar and Dundee will continue largely unchanged.
Stagecoach Service 21/21A/21B: Forfar – Stracathro Hospital/Edzell, with connectons to/from Dundee
No timetable change however the leaflet will be reprinted to show updated service 20 connection times from the 31st May 2010.
Stagecoach Services 22/22A/22D: Dundee – Glamis – Kirriemuir
On Monday to Friday this service will be reduced to provide two morning journeys from Kirriemuir to Dundee, and two afternoon journeys from Dundee to Kirriemuir. On Saturdays there will be one journey each way. Some of the Murroes journeys will be replaced by changes to TeeJay Travel Services 137/138/139 – see below.
Stagecoach Services 27/27E: Arbroath – Letham – Forfar
A number of lightly used journeys subsidised by Angus Council will be withdrawn, although the basic hourly daytime service will continue unchanged.
National Express Dundee Service 30/31/51 and Stagecoach Strathtay Service 51: Dundee – Liff – Fowlis
The Stagecoach Strathtay Service 51 2015 Dundee to Fowlis and 2059 Fowlis to Dundee journeys, both Sundays only, will be withdrawn.
Stagecoach Service 39/39A: Dundee – Arbroath – Montrose
The 1750 Arbroath to Dundee and 1843 Dundee to Arbroath journeys will be withdrawn, however service 73/73A will continue to provide alternative journeys at these times via Carnoustie.
Stagecoach Service 59: Dundee – Coupar Angus – Blairgowrie
The 0845 Dundee to Muirhead and 0905 Muirhead to Dundee journeys will now operate 5 minutes earlier.
Stagecoach Service 73/73A/73B: Ninewells Hospital/Kingoodie – Ashludie Hospital/Carnoustie/Arbroath, Cliffburn
On Monday to Thursday the Service 73B journeys at 2210, 2310 from Dundee city centre to Ashludie Hospital and Service 73B 2239 from Ashludie Hospital to Dundee city centre journeys will be withdrawn.
On Sundays the Service 73B journeys at 0634, 0734, 2210, 2310 from Dundee city centre to Ashludie Hospital and Service 73B 0705, 0805, 2239 from Ashludie Hospital to Dundee city centre journeys will be withdrawn.
Stagecoach Services 78A/78C/79A/79C: Dundee – Monikie
On Fridays and Saturdays the 2300 Dundee to Monikie and 2345 Monikie to Dundee journeys will be withdrawn.
JP Coaches Service 81: Carnoustie – Ethiebeaton Park – Wellbank or Newbigging – Forfar
Saturday service withdrawn, following cessation of financial support from Angus Council.
TeeJay Travel/JP Coaches Services 137, 138, 139: Dundee to Auchterhouse, Bridgefoot, Murroes and Tealing Village (see below for links)
Revised times to some journeys, to partly replace withdrawn journeys on Stagecoach 22. This service is split into two leaflets, so you can download one for Auchterhouse & Bridgefoot and one for Tealing & Murroes.

From Sunday 27th June 2010, National Express Dundee are making changes to various services…

Services 1, 1A, 1B, 1C – City Centre – St Marys or Craigowl View
Minor timetable changes throughout. The handful of peak 1C’s extended to/from Craigowl is now one in the morning, two in the early afternoon, but see revised 22 for alternatives. Service 1C will now serve all bus stops on route i.e. no longer non-stop from the back of the Wellgate Centre to/from Provost Road.
Service 1X – St Marys – City Centre – Harris Academy
Service renumbered from 1X to 1S. Change of time – 08.02 from St Marys (was 08.10) is retimed, but still arrives at the Harris at 08.40. Afternoon bus now leaves at 15.50 (not 15.45) and is retimed, but maintains arrival time at St Marys of 16.25. Service still schooldays only.
Services 2, 2S, 4 – City Centre – Dryburgh – Camperdown Leisure Park
Minor changes to timetable. Additional 07.26 from City Centre to Dryburgh Service 2, Monday to Friday, running via Dunsinane Avenue. 15.15 Mon-Fri journey from City Centre now continues to Camperdown every day, instead of ending at St Johns High School on schooldays.

New Service 3A – follows 3 in reverse
These new services are part replacements for the western side of Services 7/8, plus the Barnes Avenue – Fleming Gardens stretch of Service 23/24. This service provides an hourly peak time service per direction, but not serving the Barnes Avenue/Fleming Gardens/Provost Road bit. During the day, both Service 3 and 3A operate each every 80 minutes. On Saturdays and Sundays, the new 3 and 3A each operate hourly, but not serving the Barnes Avenue/Fleming Gardens/Provost Road bit.
New Services 5A/5B – Barnhill – City Centre – Airport/Perth Road – Ninewells Hospital
These new services are replacement for Services 9X and 8X, as well as parts of Services 7/8, 9/10/11/12 – see entry under 8X/9X.
New Service 6 – City Centre – Perth Road – Blackness Road – Glamis Road – Dickson Avenue – Menzieshill – Ninewells Hospital
New service intended as part replacement for one quarter of the 9/10 service, although it is going direct form Balgay Park to the Jimmy Shand via Blackness Road and Glamis Road – i.e. the same as Stagecoach Strathtay Services 39A, 73, 73A. New Service 6 will run every half-hour, Monday to Friday off-peak only. Off-peak and weekend links not replaced, but Stagecoach Strathtay 39A, 73, 73A provides alternatives.
Service 7/8 – Inner Circle
Both services are withdrawn – see 3/3A, 14/14A, 5A/5B for replacements.
Service 8X Barnhill – City Centre – Airport – Ninewells Hospital
Service 9X Barnhill – City Centre – Perth Road – Ninewells Hospital
Service 8X is renumbered 5B, while Service 9X is renumbered 5A. Both routes will be increased to operate every 30 minutes throughout the route (daytime Monday to Saturday) and every hour evening and Sunday. The new 5A/5B will become all stop services, and the non-stop sections withdrawn. Both the 5A and 5B will pick up and the same stops in Dundee City Centre, and both 5A and 5B will run via Seagate, Blackscroft and Broughty Ferry Road in both directions. Both buses will then follow the same route via Strathern Road and Broughty Ferry Town Centre. Dundee Road (formerly covered by the 8X) will still be covered by Strathtay Service 75. UPDATE – I did not notice from the inital bundle of paperwork and leaflets, but Service 5A maintains the links to the south side of Greendykes Road, previously covered by Services 7/8.
Services 9/10/11/12 – Outer Circle
These services are withdrawn in their entity – see 5A/5B, 6, 9S/10S, 11/12, 14/14A, 25/25A/26/26A for replacements.
New Service 9S, 10S – Ninewells Hospital – St Pauls Academy
The morning Service 9S is a replacement for the 08.08 Service 9A between the same points, but retimed slightly – now leaving at 08.05. The afternoon 10S starts from St Pauls Academy at 15.35, as a replacement for the similarly-timed Service 10A. An additional 10S will also operate, leaving St Johns High School at 15.32 to Ninewells Hospital. Services 9S and 10S operate on schooldays only.
New Service 11 – City Centre – Perth Road – Blackness Avenue – Pentland Avenue – Tullideph Road –Glamis Road – Elmwood Road – Charleston Drive – Ninewells Hospital
New Services 12 – in reverse of above
Provides a replacement for a quarter of the 11/12 version of the Outer Circle service. Runs half-hourly, off peak, Monday to Friday only. Peak and Saturday/Sunday links not replaced.
Service 14 – Ethiebeaton Park – Douglas – Clepington Road – Ninewells Hospital
Firstly, this service is substantially revised, to replace Services 7/8 and other withdrawn services i.e. 9/10/11/12. The section of route between Ethiebeaton Park and Baldovie Road/Sainsbury’s Claypotts is withdrawn, following poor usage. Passengers in Panmurefield will be able to use Stagecoach Strathtay Service 39 via the bus shelters on the A92, or walk through to Barnhill, where new bus stops will be provided for the 5A/5B, 25/25A and 26/26A. Ethiebeaton Park is served by Stagecoach Strathtay Services 39, 75, 79A/79C to/from Dundee City Centre. Right, fancy some good news? Well, the 14 off-peak is back to a bus every 30 minutes, Monday to Friday. The route will now start at Sainsbury’s bus stance (once again!), before running via Balunie Avenue, Ballindean Road, Longtown Road at Asda, then Longtown Street, Happyhillock Road, Pitkerro Road, Kingsway East, Forfar Road, before rejoining Clepington Road near Maryfield. The service will then follow the existing 14 route to/from Ninewells Hospital, but will double-run into Kingsway West Retail Park (once again!). However, Service 14 will not enter the retail park from the first Saturday in December, until the second Saturday in January. The Saturday and Sunday Service 14 will run as Service 14A, starting at Broughty Ferry, Fort Street, via Forthill Road, Nursery Road, Strathmore Street. North Balmossie Street, Balgillo Road, Claypotts Junction, Sainsbury’s, then as per weekday.
Service 15/17 – Whitfield – City Centre – Ninewells Hospital – Tesco Extra, South Road
Minor timing changes. Some Service 15 journeys extend to/from Courthouse Square in the City Centre. Service 17 journeys will run between Whitfield and Ninewells Hospital during evenings and all day on Sundays, with the section to Tesco Extra withdrawn (but see 25/25A/26/26A). In addition, the evening/Sunday Service 17 journeys will not serve Peebles Drive.
Service 17S – Whitfield – Claverhouse – St Paul’s Academy
Service unchanged.
Services 18/19/21 – Kirkton – City Centre
No changes to the main Services 18, 19 and 21 (leaflet reprinted), but a new schoolday only Service 21S variation will leave Commercial Street in the City Centre at 08.25, heading for Dundee College, Kingsway Campus.
Service 22 – Downfield – City Centre – Blackness Road – Ninewells Hospital
Service 22A – 22/22C journeys that end in the City Centre
Service 22C – Craigowl View – Downfield – City Centre – Blackness Road – Ninewells Hospital
Service 22C number dropped, all buses now show 22 or 22A. Service extended to run further into Craigowl View, via a series of roads that are all part of St Martin Avenue. Service frequency to Craigowl View increased, Monday to Friday, with a bus every 7-8 minutes during the day. However, many of these will run as Service 22A to the City Centre only. The section towards Ninewells Hospital is reduced to every 10 minutes to “reduce overcrowding”. (???). Saturday and Sunday service remains as now, but the new route in Craigowl will be followed by relevant journeys i.e every hour Sunday, half hour Saturday.
Service 22B – Barns of Claverhouse – Downfield – City Centre – Harris Academy
Renumbered 22S. Buses still depart at the same times from each end, but the Claverhouse terminus is now at Mill O’ Mains Primary School.
Service 23/24 – City Centre – Woodside & Fleming Gardens Circular
Service revised substantially. The Barnes Avenue and Fleming Gardens sections will be replaced by the new Services 3 & 3A. Service 23 will be revised to run off-peak every 40 minutes (see 21, 21S for peak services) from the City Centre via Victoria Road, Stobswell, Dundonald Street, Court Street, Sandeman Street, Arklay Street, Clepington Road, Graham Street, a one-way loop around Woodside, before returning back to Stobswell, then onto the City via Albert Street. Service 24 number is thus discontinued.
New Service 25/25A/26/26A – Ninewells Hospital – Lochee – St Marys – Kirkton – Whitfield – Douglas (26/26A) or Gotterstone (25/25A) – Broughty Ferry (Queen Street Service 25/26, Fort Street 25/25A)
This service is intended to replace many of the links previously provided by the Outer Circular (school links will also be provided by new 9S/10S). However, the new route is a bit more unified than the previous services. The route starts at Ninewells Hospital via the Medipark, Technology Park, South Road, Buttars Loan, Liff Road, Coupar Angus Road (stopping at Camperdown Gate for the Leisure Park but all day), Faraday Street, Telford Road, Staffa Place, Macalpine Road (thus by-passing most of St Marys), right into Laird Street, Strathmartine Road, Balgowan Avneue, Derwent Avenue/Asda, Gillburn Road, Old Glamis Road, Claverhouse Road (makes no mention here of the Claverhouse bus stance), Forfar Road, Claverhouse East Business Park i.e. The Pensions Service/Jack Martin Way (25/26 only), back to Fintry Drive, Whitfield Shops, Drumgeith Road to the former St Saviours School. Service 25/25A will then run via Douglas Road, Arbroath Road (passing Gotterstone and the back of the Northern College) to Claypotts/Sainsburys, while Service 26/26A runs via Douglas Road, Ballindean Road, Balunie Avenue, Baldovie Road, to Sainsbury’s. Monday to Friday daytime Services 25 and 26 will then run in a one-way loop via Balgillo Road, Strathmore Street, Fort Street, Queen Street and Claypotts Road, whereas Services 25A and 26A will run via Balgillo Road, Strathmore Street, Fort Street and Broughty Ferry town centre in both directions. Service runs every half hour, with alternate 25/26’s during the day.
Service 28/28A/29/29A – Douglas – City Centre – Lochee – Charleston loops
Minor changes, with some additional journeys during peak times.
Service 28S – Douglas – Claverhouse – St Pauls Academy
No changes to this service.
Service 30/31/51 – Invergowrie/City Centre – Liff/Birkhill – Fowlis
Revised route within Invergowrie – runs around Greystane Road, Mill Road, Main Street, but then via Mylnfield Road (not Errol Road), Dargie Road (new), Station Road (top end – not currently served by bus, Burnside Road (not currently served by bus). No change to Sunday service, operated by Stagecoach Strathtay.
Services 32/32B/33/33A – City Centre – Forfar Road – Fintry Shops – Fintry
Revised timetable Monday-Saturday, with buses running every 9-11 minutes off peak, instead of every 7-8 minutes.
 Services 36/36C – City Centre – Mid Craigie – Linlathen – Claverhouse
Additional journey from the City Centre to Claverhouse at 17.50. No change to any others.
Services 98A/98B – Peep O’ Day Lane (for Gallagher Retail Park) – City Centre – City Quay
Services are renumbered 43/44/45/45A, with timetable and routing changes.

Changes were introduced to various National Express Dundee school services on Friday 9th July 2010. As this was the last day of term, this may only be a paper excercise. Certainly the operator has not mentioned any changes to these routes.
From Thursday 15th to Sunday 18th July, Stagecoach will be operating additional journeys on Services 99/99A/99B/99C (Dundee Bus Station – St Andrews), as well as Service 96/96A (Ninewells Hospital – St Andrews) south of the Tay. Click here for the special timetable, which should be used in conjunction with the current 96/96A timetable or current 99/99A/99B/99C timetable. Stagecoach in Fife Service 91 (St Andrews – Strathkinness – Leuchars, for Dundee) will be withdrawn, after operating for the last time on Saturday 17th July 2010.

Apologies for the lack of updates over the last five weeks. This spell was also when I was moving to a new computer at home, working on the launch of a new bus service for the day job, then holiday, then my father’s death, then I picked up a bug! Now recovering, and catching up with the reccent developments.

From Monday 23rd August 2010 for up to 12 weeks, a temporary diversion applies to journeys in Mill O’ Mains i.e. Services 32B and 36. Buses will enter Mill O’ Mains via Eriskay Drive, turning right onto Hebrides Drive as now. On Hebrides Drive, the bus will only serve the bus stop outside the shops. From there, the bus will turn right, then left back onto Forfar Road, up to the roundabout at Fintry Drive, back down to the traffic lights at Claverhouse Road and Fountainbleau Drive, then following normal line of route.
A new Dundee City Bus Network Map is now online, correct to June 2010. This includes both National Express and Stagecoach services. Also now online is a National Express Dundee services only Bus Network Map.

Fishers Tours update – a further appeal to the Transport Tribunal has been rejected. However, it is understood that the case is not over.
UPDATED – the company have announced that services will operate as usual, pending a further appeal to the Court of Session.

A very short notice change was applied from Sunday 25th July 2010 to National Express Dundee Service 5A/5B (Barnhill – Ninewells Hospital). Some buses will now run via Broughty Ferry Queen Street as opposed to running into the central area. A new timetable can be had here.
From Monday 16th August 2010, a new timetable will be introduced on Stagecoach Express Service X54 (Dundee Bus Station – Edinburgh). The only change is the introduction of a new Monday-Friday journey from Edinburgh to Dunfermline at 0835. A new timetable can be had now. Further Stagecoach changes from this date were…
Service 20 (Kirriemuir – Forfar – Dundee) The 07.25 Dundee to Kirriemuir and 08.25 Kirriemuir to Dundee Monday to Friday journeys will be retimed slightly between Forfar and Kirriemuir to help improve reliability. A new timetable can be had now.
Service 21A (Forfar – Brechin – Stracathro Hospital) A revised timetable will be introduced, with most journeys operating via Brechin Castle Centre during the daytime Monday to Saturday.  There will be no change to the Sunday timetable.  A new timetable can be had now.
Service 27 (Forfar – Friockheim – Arbroath) Mon-Fri 09.16, 12.11 27E from Letham, Blairs Road to Forfar, and 11.30 27E Forfar Tesco – Letham, now pass from Stagecoach Strathtay to Travel Wishart. There is a new 09.00 from Forfar, East High Street to Letham, as a result. A new timetable can be had now.

From Monday 23rd August 2010 (not 30th as I originally put) , JP Mini Coaches will operate a new timetable on Service 81 (Carnoustie – Forfar). The afternoon bus from Monifieth to Forfar will now start from Carnoustie, thus running later throughout. A new timetable can be had now.
National Express Dundee will operate special Service 53 between Dundee City Centre and Camperdown Country Park (for Dundee Flower & Food Festival) on Friday 2nd, Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th September 2010. The timetable will be different from last year. A new timetable can be had now.

Wednesday 27th October – added a few new maps (see below) and corrected some links.

Sunday 24th October – I have uploaded some additional service timetables and information, such as transport maps for Angus transport network, Fife transport network, the Megabus.com network, the new National Express Dundee network map, and Perth & Kinross transport network, the Carse & Scone Local Public Transport Guide (all buses in Invergowrie, Kingoodie, Longforgan and Scone), plus timetables for a few connecting routes (AirDirect747, Perth Broxden Park + Ride – City Centre Service 301) as well as a guide giving travel options for staff at Aviva, Perth. I have also replaced the timetables for cross-border Megabus services M11 (to Manchester, Birmingham and London) and M20 (to Newcastle, Scotch Corner, Woolley Edge and and Sheffield Meadowhall), and these are now online. Note that these are valid until further notice. Also see the new Megabus M17 which also provides links to/from Edinburgh via Manchester.

I now also have timetables for Services 57 and 28S changes (see below), as well as an updated edition of the new 333 leaflet (with the front cover bits including fares and operator contact details).

From Monday 4th October 2010, a number of changes will be introduced on Citylink/Megabus/Parks of Hamilton services. You can now download timetables for Aberdeen-Dundee-Perth-Edinburgh or Aberdeen-Dundee-Perth-Stirling-Glasgow or Dundee-Perth-Pitlochry-Aviemore-Inverness.

 

From Monday 25th October 2010, a number of changes will be introduced on cross-border bus services into Perthshire.

Service 16/16A/16B (Dundee – Longforgan – Inchture – Perth) In order to help improve reliability, a revised timetable will be introduced and most journeys will no longer serve Perth bus station, operating to Canal Street and departing from South Street.  Seagate bus station in Dundee will continue to be served and buses will generally depart the bus station around 5 minutes earlier than at present.

Service 57 (Dundee – Blairgowrie – Perth) The 06.50 Monday to Friday journey from Dundee bus station to Perth Aviva will no longer operate via Perth bus station.  Passengers for the city centre will be able to alight on York Place at Perth Central Library. Timetable now online.

Service 333 (PRI – Ninewells Hospital) The service has been revised and will now include Inchture (Road End) as a stopping point. Fares have also been revised from this date.

From Sunday 7th November 2010, National Express Dundee have registered a few changes to the network, following feedback from passengers. See the new National Express Network map for the new network at a glance.

Service 3/3A (City Centre – Infirmary Brae or Gardner Street – Caird Avenue – Fleming Gardens) Not mentioned in the National Express Dundee press releases or service changes flyer, but this route will change. Firstly, the Sunday service is removed. Monday-Friday early and morning peak service withdrawn, with a journey leaving Union Street on the 3 loop at 08.08 during school holidays only. Most daytime journeys are 12 minutes earlier. Saturday service now starts at 08.57, not 07.30, but no change to times after that.

Service 5A/5B (Ninewells Hospital – Perth Road or Airport – City Centre – Greendykes Road or Dundee Road – Strathern Road – Broughty Ferry Queen Street or town centre – Forthill/Balgillo/Barnhill) Service revised substantially. All buses will now run via Perth Road, Greendykes Road, and Broughty Ferry Queen Street – for alternative buses along Riverside Drive (but not entering the Airport complex) see revised 14A, 14C and existing Stagecoach service X42. Service now displays 5 and runs every 15 minutes, six days a week i.e. every 30 minutes on Sundays (and every evening). Route serves the Technology Park on all directions, both ways, and Gowrie Park (not to be confused with Gowriehill in the NXD changes leaflet and press release). Interestingly, there will be no direct replacement for buses in central Broughty Ferry i.e. Brook Street, King Street, Gray Street and Fort Street, but Stagecoach services 69 and 88 provide alternative links. Short journeys from Ninewells Hospital to the City Centre will display 5B, but operate via the 5 route i.e. Perth Road, not Riverside. If that’s confusing, the short journeys from Forthill to the City Centre will be numbered 5A, although running via the 5 route i.e. Greendykes Road.

Service 6 (City Centre – Blackness Avenue – Dickson Avenue – Ninewells Hospital) This service has been withdrawn. A replacement along Blackness Avenue will be provided by the new 26, but this will have no evening or Sunday service. Dickson Avenue will still be covered by the 22 and 73.

Service 11, 12 (City Centre – Blackness Avenue – Pentland Avenue – Elmwood Road – Ninewells Hospital) Service withdrawn. A replacement will be provided by the new 26, but this will have no evening or Sunday service. It will provide a Saturday (and public holiday) service therefore.

Service 14, 14A (Ninewells Hospital – Clepington Road – Sainsbury’s Claypotts, then 14A to/from Broughty Ferry) Service also revised substantially. Between South Road and Harefield Road Roundabout, all buses will now run via Craigowan Road, Charleston Road, Balgartho Road, Brownhill Road, Buttars Road, Buttars Loan and Liff Road.  Service 14 will be the Monday to Friday service, with certain journeys extended to/from Riverside Drive and Dundee City Centre, for crew change purposes, but running in public service. Unlike the (to-be-withdrawn) 5B, they will not enter the Airport complex. These journeys will be numbered 14A. The existing Saturday and Sunday 14A (to/from Broughty Ferry) will be renumbered 14C (if it starts from the City Centre via Riverside) or 14B (if not).  The “new” 14B/14C will now start/end at Queen Street Broughty Ferry, running both ways the same i.e. West Queen Street, Queen Street, Fort Street, Forthill Road, Nursery Road, Strathmore Street, North Balmossie Street, Balgillo Road, Claypotts etc. Service will once again operate into Kingsway West Retail Park, except, not from the first Saturday in December until the second Saturday in January, and will stop outside on Clepington Road.  Timetable remains broadly the same as now, but the 07.40 from Ninewells Monday-Friday will leave 10 minutes earlier, getting to Sainsbury’s Claypotts 9 minutes earlier. Some morning peak buses from Claypotts will leave earlier and depart later in the afternoon.

Service 15/17 (Whitfield – Pitkerro Road – City Centre – Ninewells Hospital – Technology Park – South Road Tesco) Following feedback from one of the West End ward councillors, there is a new 05.30 17 from Whitehall Street to Ninewells Hospital, Monday to Friday only. 06.34 ex Whitfield 17 now leaves at 06.35, but that is the only other change I have spotted. Also, the Sunday timetable appears to be gaining an extra bus to improve reliability, so longer (but more realistic) journey times will now apply during the day on Sundays. Buses still run every 30 minutes on Sundays.

Service 21S (Morning peak bus from City Centre to Old Glamis Road College) Service withdrawn – no change to the main 18/19/21 service.

Service 22/22A (Craigowl View – Downfield – Strathmartine Road – City Centre – Blackness Road – Ninewells Hospital) Route revised, now dropping the controversial extension around Craigowl View. All buses will now start/end at St Martin Avenue. However, the Monday-Friday daytime service moves from a slightly higgledy piggeldy pile of journeys ending in town, to a “frequent service” – this means a bus at least every 10 minuets, but can be more often, thus not following the same minutes past each hour, in some cases). I presume these will all be running in service through end-to-end. The operator mentions a bus every 8 minutes on the service changes leaflet, but this is not confirmed. The number 22A will only be used by short workings from Craigowl/Downfield to the City Centre, with 22B being used for short 22’s from Ninewells Hospital to the City Centre instead.

Service 23 (City Centre – Woodside) This Monday-Friday service is now officially Hail & Ride on streets without bus stops. Additional school holiday journey at 08.15 from High Street to Woodside and 08.33 return. The 08.57 Monday-Friday from Woodside Terrace is dropped, but is being replaced by a new 08.55 from High Street at 09.13 from Woodside. Most daytime buses will then be 15 minutes later, until 14.33 from Woodside, 14.55 from High Street. From there, journeys depart 15.12 and 15.44 from Woodside and 15.30 and 16.03 from Commercial Street – but these four will run school holidays only. Amongst all the changes, the last bus at 16.40 from High Street still departs at the same time. However, the return bus at 17.00 from Woodside will now run at 16.58.

Service 25/25A/26/26A (Ninewells Hospital – Downfield – Whitfield – Broughty Ferry) Service revised, with all buses now numbered 26. Service withdrawn from Technology Park, Medipark (see Service 5 and 14 group), a part of South Road (see 28/29 and 30/31), Coupar Angus Road and Camperdown Leisure Park (see 2, 4, 57/59), Gotterstone (see 39), Fairfield Road north end (see 39), and Broughty Ferry town centre at weekends. The buses will now start in Dundee City Centre, running out via Perth Road, Blackness Avenue, Pentland Avenue, Charleston Drive, Glaims Road, Elmwood Road, Charleston Derive, Ninewells Hospital, then out via Charleston Drive (again!) before running via Arran Drive, Charleston Shops, Lochee By-Pass, Loons Road, Alpin Road, Strathmore Avenue, and Kings Cross Road. The service will be revised to have a 30 minute Monday to Saturday service, but the entire evening and Sunday service is being withdrawn. There will also be some large gaps around school times, when schools are in session. Some journeys will continue to serve Jack Martin Way (for the Pensions Office) but the majority will not. In Broughty Ferry and Barnhill, all journeys will operate an anti-clockwise loop, with the clockwise service provided by the revised 5 group.

Service 28S (Douglas Terminus – St Paul’s Academy) Service extended to/from Barnhill Shops and Balgillo in the afternoon only. Timetable now online.

Service 30/31/51 (Monday to Saturday service from Invergowrie or City Centre – Ninewells Hospital or Lochee – Arran Drive – South Road Tesco – Myrekirk Road – Gourdie Brae – Birkhill, Muirhead, Fowlis, Liff and Liff Hospital) Service was deregistered i.e. withdrawn by the bus operator, following sustained heavy losses on this route. Angus Council have tendered a replacement for this route, and with support from NHS Tayside, the service will maintain its current timetable, until about 18.00 hours only. The service will not start/end at Invergowrie, but will start/end at Technology Park, Explorer Road. A replacement between Charleston and Menzieshill/Ninewells Hospital via Arran Drive is provided on the new 26. Sunday service 51 is provided by Stagecoach Strathtay and is not being changed. Timetable now downloadable.

Service 32/32B/33/33A (City Centre – Forfar Road – Fintry or Whitfield Shops) A revised timetable is being introduced, with the main Monday to Friday daytime service between the City Centre and Caird Park/Morrisons being increased to a bus every 7-8 minutes, instead of every 9-10-11 minutes.

Services 43/44/45/45A (City Quay – City Centre – Gallagher Retail Park – Peep O’ Day Lane) This service has been withdrawn. It is suggested that the drivers shuttle will now be provided out-of-public-service.

From Monday 8th November 2010, Stagecoach Strathtay will make changes to Service 22/22D (Dundee – Glamis – Kirriemuir). The 17.50 from Dundee Service 22 will now operate at 17.35. A new timetable can be had now.

From Monday 29th November, Stagecoach in Fife made changes to Service 41/41A/41B (Kirkcaldy or Leven – Cupar – connections to 42 or X42 for Dundee) within Levenmouth. From this date, most of the 41A journeys will be renumbered to 41B and will operate to a revised route and timetable between Buckhaven and Kennoway via Leven and Casan also serving additional parts of Buckhaven and Methil. From Monday 3rd January 2011, Stagecoach in Fife are making changes to AirDirect Service 747 (Inverketihing – Ferrytoll P&R, for Dundee – Edinburgh Airport). A revised timetable will be introduced which will incorporate a number of improvements to the Monday to Friday peak timetable. In the morning there will be an additional journey continuing beyond RBS (at Gogarburn) to Riccarton, plus an extra journey to RBS providing a slightly later arrival time. In the afternoon additional journeys from RBS will be introduced to provide a 20 min service from 1652 until 1852, plus an earlier bus from The Gyle which will start from Redheughs Avenue opp. Redheughs Rigg at 1638. There will be some minor adjustments to the timings of journeys at other times of the day, and at the weekend. Would passengers please note that due to the Festive revisions this service will operate a Saturday timetable on Monday 3rd and Tuesday 4th January, with normal service resuming on Wednesday 5th. National Express Dundee are to introduce a package of revised fares – from Wednesday 5th January 2011. The current £1.20 Adult fare is unchanged, but the current £1.45 Adult fare (2 or more stages) is split into two – with your journey now costing either £1.60 or £2.00. On Monday 10th January 2011, Stagecoach Strathtay single fares are going up. All fares up to £1.80 are up by 5p and all fares over £1.85 are up by 10p. Note that there are no changes to MegaRider, DayRider etc. tickets at this time. Download the leaflet for full details.

Site updates 18th January 2011 – Asda free bus services – Kirkton services are no longer operating, confirmed by the store January 2011. Milton of Craigie buses are still operating, with a timetable to follow shortly, when I recieve it from the store. I have added notes as to which services have free WiFi for passengers – currently Services 73, 73A, 333 and X54. This is also a feature on some Citylinks/Parks/Megabus journeys, but there is no way to identify which trips do and do not have this feature, so contact the operator if you wish to find out. Various timetable links have been updated and corrected on 18th and 19th January 2011.

From Tuesday 1st February 2011 until Monday 28th February 2011, National Express Dundee are having a special promotional fare of £2.50 for an All Day Ticket. This promotion is only valid on Service 5 (Barnhill – Ninewells Hospital).

From Monday 7th February 2011, a revised timetable will be introduced by TeeJay Travel on Services 137, 138, 139. Mon-Sat Service 139 at 09.50 from Dundee City Centre now departs at 09.44. Saturday Service 138 at 08.49 from Downfield now departs at 08.36. Both these two are retimed throughout. Also, various other minor changes have been made to journeys between Bridgefoot and Downfield. As ever, this route is in two seperate local leaflets. You can now (31/01) download the timetable leaflets for Auchterhouse, Bridgefoot and Strathmartine Hospital (Services 137, 138, 139) and Murroes, Tealing Village, Inveraldie (Services 138, 139 – also includes other Murroes – Dundee services i.e. 22).

Very Late Notice Roadworks! Due to an emergency road closure for essential repairs between Liff and Fowlis from Monday 28th February until Friday 4th March, National Express Dundee Services 30, 31, 51 will terminate and start from Ninewells Hospital. The service will only serve Liff Village once as they are being diverted around the closure which has meant that a temporary timetable will be in operation during this period. Please note that passengers wishing to travel to or from the Technology Park must retain the ticket purchased on the above service to ensure free travel on either Service 5, 14, 14A or 17 in either direction between Ninewells and the Technology Park. Download the temporary (Mon-Fri) timetable and route description here. UPDATE – this work finished on Thursday, so the road reopened on Friday 4th March.

From Monday 21st February 2011, Stagecoach will be introducing changes to some services, as part of a wider service review across Fife. Those that come into Dundee that will change are as follows… (timetables uploaded 27/01)…

Service 77/77B: Kingoodie/Invergowrie – Dundee – Newport – Gauldry/Wormit
The 77A journeys on this service will be revised to operate as service 77B journeys thus providing an hourly service to/from Crosshill Terrace throughout the day, in addition to the existing hourly 77 journeys to/from Gauldry.  Waterstone Crook car park, Kirk Road and Bay Road will no longer be served.

Service 99/99A/99B/99C: St Andrews – Leuchars – Dundee
There will be some minor adjustments to morning and afternoon peak journeys to improve connections with rail services at Leuchars station.  To reflect the increasing demand for this popular service, the Sunday daytime frequency will be increased to every 20 minutes with the introduction of hourly 99B journeys.

Update 2nd February – Fishers Tours have been successful in their appeal to the Court of Session, thus overturning the rulings of the Traffic Commisoner to prohibit them from introducing new services outwith Angus & Dundee, as well as to cancel certain services. The company are currently in the midst of submitting various new registrations, along with some cancellations. A full list of changes will be posted here in due course, once they are all in. Further update 12th February – the operator has supplied copies of the intermediate timetables, which apply from now until mid-April. From Sunday 6th March 2011, National Express Dundee are introducing a package of service changes (information updated with full details 11th Feb). This includes major changes to the St Marys services, which will be simplified. St Marys & Ardler residents are able to go along to a forthcoming Service Change Public Exhibition, which will see a bus of NatEx Dundee management parked up at Turnberry Avenue, for you to ask further questions on new service provision. There are two exhibitions planned so that local residents can find out more information and ask questions of National Express staff. The exhibitions will be on a bus parked on Turnberry Avenue, close to the shops. These will be on Thursday 3rd February from 12.00 to 15.30 and Tuesday 8th February from 10.00 to 13.00.

Services 1, 1A, 1B withdrawn in their current format, and replaced by New Service 1, 1D and the revised Service 1C will replace them. Service 1 will operate a very frequent service during the day, replacing Services 1A, 1B, and peak 1. The industrial estates are no longer served by the 1 or 1A. The new very frequent Service 1 will follow the existing loop around the City Centre, then Victoria Road, Dens Road, Main Street, Hilltown Clock, Strathmartine Road to the Five Ways, then Strathmore Avenue, Harefield Road, Stack Leisure Park, Harefield Road on most journeys), Kings Cross Road, Kings Cross Circle, Macalpine Road, then all buses following the same route i.e. Rosemount Road, Dalmahoy Drive, Turnberry Avenue (Ardler Village Centre), Macalpine Road, St Kilda Road, Dalmahoy Drive, Laird Street to Benholm Place terminus. The service is operating “every 10 minutes or more often” throughout the day, every 30 minutes in the evenings. On Sundays, Service 1 will operate as Service 1D and extend via Laird Street, Strathmartine Road to Downfield Terminus. Download a new timetable for Services 1 & 1D here.

Service 1C City Centre – Clepington Road – Ardler Village – St Marys loop and/or Craigowl View
Route revised substantially. Service no longer operates to/from Craigowl View at any time of day – see Service 22 and 137/138/139 for alternatives. Service will still follow the loop around the City Centre before operating via Victoria Road, Dens Road, update – Service 1C will be using Moncur Crescent (replacing 1A) and Caird Avenue, not Provost Road any longer (updated 17th Feb), Clepington Road, Kingsway West Retail Park (except during the specified dates in the festive period!), Clepington Road, Kings Cross Circle, then via a new route – no longer serving Ardler Village (see Service 1/1D, which will also provide an evening & Sunday service to this area),     but operating direct up Macalpine Road (passing the Crematorium), then in the current one-way loop around Macalpine Road, Laird Street, Dalmahoy Drive and Birkdale Place. This means that parts of the 1C that is not covered by the new 1 lose their evening service – but the bit of Laird Street between the terminus and Macalpine Circus will be covered by the 1D during Sunday daytimes. Withdrawn in it’s current format. However, a new Circular Service 4, 4A, evening Service 4B, and School service 4S will cover most of these points.
NEW SERVICE 4 City Centre – Hawkhill – Peddie Street – Lochee – Clement Park Flats – Dryburgh – Lochee – Alpin Road – Byron Street – Hilltown – City Centre (operates in this direction – see 4A for return)
NEW SERVICE 4A City Centre – Hilltown – Byron Street – Alpin Road – Lochee – Dryburgh – Clement Park Flats – Lochee – Peddie Street – Hawkhill – City Centre (operates in this direction – see 4 for return)
These two hourly circular services provide new Monday-Saturday daytime links across the City, replacing the former Service 2 and 4. The St Johns school journeys will be covered by 4S, and the evening service is covered by 4B. There will be two points that will not be covered by this daytime service – Perth Road (instead the 4 bus will run along Hawkhill before turning into Peddie Street, or in 4A reverse). Also, Camperdown Leisure Park will not be served during the main part of the day – but the evening service 4B will continue to do so. Having said that, the 18.15 from City Centre Service 4 will follow the above route to Dryburgh, then extend to Camperdown Leisure Park.  Links to Camperdown Leisure Park during the day will continue to be provided by the 57, 59 (alight at Camperdown Gate.) Service 4 will leave the new main City Centre stop of Union Street at 15 past most hours, with the 4A leaving at 45 past. There will be both a 4 and 4A at 17.15 on weekdays. UPDATE 17th February 2011 – the intended start/finish point in Union Street is about to be restricted for buses i.e. dropping off only. So, instead, Service 4 will start and end at Nethergate, bus shelter N1. This replaces the intetion to have the new 4 start/end in Union Street. Service 4A and 4B will continue to start/end at High Street/Primark. So, if you downloaded a timetable for this, please download this updated version instead.

NEW SERVICE 4B City Centre – Hilltown – Byron Street – Alpin Road – Lochee – Dryburgh – Camperdown Leisure Park (and return)

Three weekday morning journeys are advanced by a few minutes, to enhance reliability. Note there are no changes to the route of this service. Download a new 5/5A/5B timetable here.

Services 14, 14A, 14B, 14C (14A 14C start from City Centre via Riverside Drive) – Ninewells Hospital – Technology Park – Charleston – Clepington Road – Asda Milton – Douglas – Sainsbury’s Claypotts (14B 14C continues to Broughty Ferry)
Services withdrawn from the Technology Park – however, those that operate from the City Centre will operate via the Technology Park before Ninewells (14A, 14C). The journeys that still operate via Technology Park are titled 14D, irrespective of whether they start at the City Centre or Ninewells Hospital. All other services to run via Charleston Drive and Arran Drive instead – thus removing non-14D journeys from the far end of South Road. This group of services will continue to serve Kingsway West Retail Park, except during the festive period, as noted on the route descriptions. There are revised timings as a result – download a new 14, 14A, 14B, 14C, 14D timetable here.

Service 15 Whitfield – Pitkerro Road – Dura Street (to Whitfield) or Albert Street (to City) – City Centre
Service 17 Whitfield – Pitkerro Road – Dura Street – City Centre – Lochee Road – Tullideph Road – Ninewells Hospital – Technology Park – Tesco Extra, South Road
Service 15 is revised to operate towards the City Centre via Dura Street, Dens Road and Victoria Road, not Albert Street, King Street and Seagate (also see 17 and 17A). All buses towards Whitfield will serve Victoria Road, Dens Road and Dura Street.
Service 17 is withdrawn between Technology Park, Explorer Road at Sidlaw House and South Road, Tesco Extra. Buses will therefore terminate at Explorer Road, and use the roundabouts to turn for the next journey back to Whitfield. This service will be revised to operate via Albert Street, King Street and Seagate on route from Whitfield to Technology Park, as opposed to Dura Street, Dens Road and Victoria Road (also see 15). However, the evening service is renumbered 17A, and continues to serve Dura Street, Dens Road and Victoria Road towards Ninewells Hospital. All 17 and 17A buses towards Whitfield will serve Victoria Road, Dens Road and Dura Street.
Note that Service 26 has been retimed to provide a better spread of buses in Whitfield (for Ninewells Hospital) and Service 26 has also been changed to be leaving Whitehall Street 10 minutes apart from the 17, providing an improved spread of buses here too. The timetable for this group of services is now ready for download – so download a new 15, 17, 17A timetable here.

Service 23 City Centre – Dura Street – Court Street – Woodside
Departures from Woodside at 16.18 and 16.58, plus the 16.40 from High Street, are withdrawn. There are alternative 21 journeys via Woodside (albeit via Dens Road) departing Woodside Terrace at 16.05, 16.35 and 17.05, with a 21 journey leaving Albert Square at 16.40. This service continues to operate Monday to Friday only, with no changes to the route. Download a new 23 timetable here.

Service 26 City Centre – Blackness Avenue – Tullideph Road – Ninewells Hospital – Arran Drive – Charleston –  Lochee – Alpin Road – St Marys – Kirkton – Claverhouse – Fintry – Whitfield Shops – Douglas – Broughty Ferry & Barnhill
The whole service is shifted by 15 minutes on the majority of departures – this is to allow Service 26 and 17 to combine to offer a better spread of Ninewells Hospital services from Whitfield, and Tullideph Road/Charleston Drive services from the City Centre. Together with an extended morning peak journey, it means the 50 minute gap for buses at Pentland Avenue is reduced to a standard 30 minutes throughout. This service continues to operate Monday to Saturday daytimes only, with no changes to the route. Download a new 26 timetable here.

Service 28/29 Douglas – Craigie – Arbroath Road – City Centre – Lochee Road – Lochee – Charleston
A revised timetable applies throughout the day on Sundays, as additional resources (i.e. one extra bus) has been allowed to give the service more running time – a typical Douglas-Charleston-Douglas rounder now goes from 77minutes to 97minutes. As a result, the Sunday timetable is revised, although both the 28 and 29 will still operate every 40 minutes, with a combined Sunday daytime service every 20 minutes along Arbroath Road and Lochee Road. There are no changes to the route, or the Monday-Saturday timetable. Download a new 28/29 timetable here.

From Monday 4th April 2011, Stagecoach Strathtay will introduce a revised timetable on Services 73/73A/73B (Arbroath – Ninewells Hospital). Following requests from the local community, buses will only serve Broomhill Drive, Monifieth in one direction. Therefore all journeys will operate direct from Monifieth High Street to Ashludie Hospital, with Broomhill Drive served on the return journey. A reduced timetable will also now operate on Dundee local holiday Mondays, in order to better match the level of passenger demand on such days. You can download a new 73/73A/73B timetable here. Updated 16th March – Service 30 (Arbroath – Montrose – Brechin – Stracathro/Edzell) is changing, with most buses operating via Montrose Station, and more early buses from Arbroath/late buses to Arbroath. I used to have the 30 leaflet up here, and it is now back – download the new 30 leaflet here – which is useful as it includes a full summary of all buses between Montrose, Inverkeillor and Arbroath.

Stagecoach in Fife would like to make all passengers aware of a diversion in Edinburgh from Monday 21st March 2011 for approximately 14 weeks due to gas works taking place on Queensferry Street, which will divert Dundee Service X54 and all other Fife-bound routes. (Presumably Citylink/Parks/Megabus will also be diverted?) For services into Edinburgh, the diversion will follow Drumsheugh Gardens, Walker Street, Coates Crescent, Shandwick Place, Princes Street and Frederick Street. Updated 17th March (15.27) – Arrangements for Citylink/Megabus/Parks Services M20, M90, M91, M92 have been confirmed.
Outbound services to the north will operate from bus station via Queen St., Charlotte Square, Glenfinlas St., Great Stuart St., Randolph Cres., Queensferry St and then resume normal route. A replacement stop for Queensferry St will be located on the west side of Charlotte Square at West Register House.
Inbound services from the north will divert along Melville St., Walker St., Coates Crescent, Shandwick Place, Princes St., Frederick St., then along Queen St to the Bus Station. A replacement stop for Queensferry St will be located on Shandwick Place.

Good Friday 22nd April – Dundee schools are off, so National Express Dundee are running a Saturday service. Ignore that – National Express Dundee are running a Normal service today. All other bus services in Dundee will run to the usual Friday timetable.

Easter Sunday 24th April – all bus services all bus services in the City are running to usual Sunday timetables.

Easter Monday 25th April – Dundee schools are in, so National Express Dundee are running a normal Monday service. All other bus services in Dundee will run to the usual Monday timetable too.

Tuesday 26th April – all bus services all bus services in the City are running to usual Tuesday timetables.

Wednesday 27th April – all bus services all bus services in the City are running to usual Wednesday timetables.

Thursday 28th April – all bus services all bus services in the City are running to usual Thursday timetables.

Royal Wedding Bank Holiday Friday 29th April – National Express Dundee are running a Saturday service, PLUS a Non-Schoolday timetable on Service 23. Stagecoach in Fife will operate a Saturday service on all routes, with the exception of services 204 and X51, which will not operate.  Alloa town service C64 will be operated by WAVE on this date. Stagecoach in Perth will operate a Saturday service on all routes, with the exception of service 99 (Aberfeldy – Dunkeld), which will not operate. Stagecoach Strathtay will operate a normal service will operate on all routes, with the exception of services 16, 42, 96 and X42, which will operate a Saturday service.  A Dundee local holiday service level will apply on service 73/73A.

From Monday 18th April 2011, Stagecoach Strathtay Services 39 and 39A (Montrose – Dundee/Invergowrie) will be split into two routes. New timetables and further details to follow. Updated 17th March – You can download the new timetable now – there are no changes to the times, aside from being split into two. Buses will continue to operate across Arbroath, and passengers will beable to remain on board. Rather than showing Montrose 39 or 39A, the bus will *probably* show Arbroath for Montrose 39 or 39A. This is the same as happens on other routes i.e. X42, and is to circumvent the requirements that apply for routes longer than 50km, as per EU mandates.

May Day Monday 2nd May – National Express Dundee will be operating Saturday timetables on all services. Stagecoach in Fife services will operate to a Saturday service except services 56, 201 and 204, which will operate normally.  Alloa town service C64 will be operated by WAVE on this day. Stagecoach in Perth and Stagecoach Strathtay will operate normal services with the exception of route 73 which will follow the public holiday schedule shown within the timetable. JP Coaches will operate to the usual Monday timetable.

From Monday 2nd May 2011 Stagecoach implemented a fares rise. Strathtay customers were already increased on single fares earlier in the year, so the increase does not cover this. The changes include some expanded and revised validity on Day and Period tickets – please download the Stagecoach in Fife, Stagecoach in Perth, or Stagecoach Strathtay information guides.

Monday 21st February 2011 (extra information uploaded 17/02) will be the start of a major road closure in Tayport, which continue until April, and will cause all bus services in the area.

Update 3rd May 2011 – Perth & Kinross Council are ceasing publication of their Local Area Public Transport Guides, and operators will be responsibile for issuing their own timetable leaflets. There is now a reprint of the timetables for Service 57 and Service 59, but without change to the actual times. In Stagecoach style, these show journeys with easy access buses in blue, and non-accessibile buses in orange.

National Express Dundee Services 18/19/21 – just noticed (yes, sorry!) a major typo in the current 18/19/21 timetable (the 21 is shown on Saturdays in one direction only…) Anyway, I’ve replaced the current file with the scanned registration document, which does not have this error. Done 3rd May 2011.

Some other minor corrections to links, and an update to the Stagecoach Strathtay contact details, were done 3rd May 2011.

From Monday 23rd May 2011, there will be changes to Citylink/Megabus/Parks services to & from Dundee, as well as across the network.

From Sunday 1st May 2011, National Express Dundee are introducing a promotional £2.50 Day Ticket. Like the one tried on the 5/5A/5B earlier this year, this is only valid on one route group – this time it’s Services 1, 1C and 1D. Updated 12th May – confirmed for one month only.

From Monday 30th May 2011, a variety of changes will apply throughout Angus, as a result of a competitive tendering package, which includes some cuts. Changes are to be expected on Stagecoach Strathtay Services 20/20A/20B Dundee – Forfar – Kirriemuir (where the evening service will revert to hourly between Forfar and Dundee, as well as other minor changes), Stagecoach Strathtay Services 78A/78C/79A/79C Dundee – Ballumbie Castle – Monikie Circular (where the 20.00 journey on Mon-Sat is withdrawn, and the operator changes to National Express Dundee – although, the change of operator may be in doubt Update 10th April – Stagecoach Strathtay will continue to operate the service after all, as NX Dundee have been unable to take up the contract). There is also potential for changes to Service 27-27E, 81, 137, 138, 139, to be confirmed. Further details will be posted here nearer the time.
Update 10th April – Service 81 will have a revised timetable, removing the afternoon journey to Forfar. You can download this here. Services 20/20A/20B, 27-27E, 137-139 will have revised timetables – details to follow.

Stagecoach Service 20/20A/20B/20C: Dundee – Forfar – Kirriemuir
The 06.00 Dundee to Kirriemuir journey will be revised to start from Forfar at 06.37. The 07.25 Dundee to Kirriemuir journey will run 5 minutes earlier, with the 08.20 journey from Kirriemuir retimed to depart 5 minutes earlier with additional time added between Kirriemuir and Forfar to help improve reliability. The 19.55, 20.55 & 21.55 Forfar to Dundee journeys, and the 20.30, 21.30 & 22.30 Dundee to Forfar journeys will be withdrawn.

Stagecoach Services 22/22D: Dundee – Glamis – Kirriemuir
The 17.35 (Mon-Fri) & 17.50 (Sat) Dundee to Kirriemuir Service 22 journeys will be retimed to depart at 17.45 throughout the week i.e. Monday to Saturday.

Stagecoach/Travel Wishart Services 27/27E: Arbroath – Letham – Forfar
The 17.20 Forfar to Letham journey will be withdrawn, and the 22.40 Forfar to Friockheim journey will only run as far as Letham on Monday to Thursday evenings. The 22.55 Arbroath to Friockheim & 23.12 Friockheim to Arbroath journeys will also be withdrawn on Monday to Thursday evenings. (At the same time, all the journeys operated by Travel Wishart are withdrawn).

M W Nicoll/Stagecoach Service 30: Arbroath – Montrose – Brechin – Stracathro Hospital
On Saturdays, the 09.10 Arbroath to Stracathro journey will now commence from Montrose rail station at 09.34; the 17.08 Stracathro to Montrose journey will be extended to Arbroath, and the 17.42 Montrose to Brechin & 18.08 Brechin to Arbroath journeys will be withdrawn.

Stagecoach Strathtay Service 78A/C, 79A/C: Dundee – Monikie
The 20.00 Dundee to Monikie and 20.54 Monikie to Dundee journeys will be withdrawn. These services ARE confirmed as being continued by Stagecoach Strathay, after National Express Dundee were unable to take up the contract.

TeeJay Travel Services 138, 139: Dundee City Centre – Tealing Village, Murroes/Westhall Terrace and Inveraldie
The 09.44 139 (Mon-Sat) Dundee City Centre, Seagate – Murroes & Tealing will now run up to six minutes later in the journey – see new timetable for details.
The 16.00 139 (Saturday) Dundee City Centre, Seagate – via Burnside of Duntrune and Tealing – 16.36 Auchterhouse – 17.00 Downfield, will run 30 minutes earlier throughout, starting from Dundee, Seagate at 15.30

Stagecoach in Fife would like to advise passengers that from Monday 9th May 2011, Queensferry Street in Edinburgh’s west end will fully re-open to traffic.  Services will therefore return to their normal routes and stops at the West End. Also from this date as part of the ongoing gas mains works in the area, Dean Bridge will be closed northbound until the end of July/early August.  Services to Fife will divert via Melville Street, Manor Place, Chester Street, Palmerston Place, Douglas Gardens, Belford Road and Queensferry Terrace, resuming normal route on Queensferry Road.  The section of route between Drumsheugh Gardens and Stewart’s Melville College will not be served in the ‘to Fife’ direction.  A temporary bus stop will be observed on Queensferry Terrace before the roundabout with Queensferry Road.  Services from Fife will be unaffected. Blackness Road, Dundee is partially closed from Tuesday 14th June 2011, for 2 weeks, for resurfacing work between Glenagnes Road and Forest Park Road.
Service 22 will be diverted during this period, via the following routes…
Towards Ninewells Hospital –     Normal route to Blackness Road, then via Bellfield Street, Hawhill, Blackness Avenue, then onto Blackness Road to follow normal route thereafter
Towards City Centre – Normal route to Balgay Park, then via Blackness Avenue, Hawkhill, Bellfield Street then onto Blackness Road to follow normal route thereafter

Alexander Street, Dundee, will be closed on Saturday 11th and 12th of June. Service 22 towards Ninewells Hospital will follow the normal route to Hilltown clock, then via Mains Street and Dens Road then will follow normal route to Ninewells. Services towards Craigowl will not be affected.

National Express Dundee’s fare promotion for June will be unlimited travel on Service 15, 17 and 17A (Whitfield – Pitkerro Road – City Centre – Charleston Drive – Ninewells Hospital – Technology Park). The deal starts on Wednesday 1st June 2011, and will run until the end of the month. Get unlimited travel for one day, only £2.50, but ONLY valid on these services.

From Monday 13th June 2011, Stagecoach Fife are making minor changes to the Services 41/41A/41B (Kirkcaldy – Cupar, for Dundee) and minor changes to the Express network, including Service X54 (Dundee – Cowdenbeath – Edinburgh). Service X54 will be split into sections, like several other routes recently, but through travel will be permitted. Therefore, the changes are limited to just minor timing changes on this route.

Updated 26th May – additional information now ready. In addition, by popular demand, I now upload ALL Stagecoach Fife area express services, plus the 55 stopping service to Edinburgh – which you can use for connections to other places. X54 passengers should normally be able to get the X59 to Edinburgh at Glenrothes, reducing the journey somewhat!

Service 41: Kirkcaldy/Leven – Kennoway – Cupar (with connections to/from Dundee)
Service 41 journeys will no longer serve Robertson Road in Cupar.  Service 41B journeys will be retimed to operate up to 3 minutes earlier than at present on journeys between Leven and Cupar, and up to 2 minutes later than at present on journeys between Cupar and Leven, to help improve reliability.

Service 43/44/46/X4: Leven – Glenrothes
Service 46 will no longer serve Markinch rail station and will be revised to operate direct through Markinch via Commercial Street and Balbirnie Street, with minor adjustments to timings along the route as a result.  Service X4 will be retimed on journeys from Glenrothes to Leven to operate one minute earlier throughout.  There will be no change to the service 43 and 44 journeys within this service.

Service 53/X53/57/X57: Kirkcaldy – Dalgety Bay – Ferrytoll – Edinburgh
A new early Dalgety Bay – Edinburgh 53 journey at 05.03 will be introduced providing a connection at Ferrytoll with the 05.20 service 747 journey to Edinburgh Airport.  The 0745 Kirkcaldy – Edinburgh X57 journey will be retimed to depart at 07.47.  The 0847 Dalgety Bay – Edinburgh 53 journey will operate as service X53 at 08.51.  The 09.15 Dalgety Bay – Edinburgh X53 journey will operate 15 minutes later at 09.30.

Service 55: Dunfermline – Ferrytoll (for Dundee) – Edinburgh
The 09.28 Dunfermline – Edinburgh journey will operate 8 minutes earlier throughout.  The 09.20 & 09.50 Edinburgh – Dunfermline journeys will operate 10 minutes later throughout.  The 10.05 & 10.35 Edinburgh – Dunfermline journeys will operate 5 minutes earlier throughout.  The 10.20 Edinburgh – Dunfermline journey will be withdrawn.

Service 747: Inverkeithing – Ferrytoll (for Dundee) – Edinburgh Airport
The 1850 Inverkeithing – Edinburgh Airport journey will operate 5 minutes later throughout.  All evening journeys will be revised to operate 15 minutes later at 00 & 30 minutes past each hour from Inverkeithing and Edinburgh Airport to better connect with bus and rail services at Ferrytoll and Inverkeithing.

Service X24: St Andrews – Glenrothes – Dunfermline – Glasgow
The route of this service will be revised in Cupar to operate via Station Road instead of Crossgate, stopping outside the rail station.

Service X26/X27: St Andrews – Leven – Kirkcaldy – Dunfermline – Glasgow
There will no change to the timetable of this service, but the leaflet will be reprinted to show connections along the route.

Service X54: Dundee – Glenrothes – Dunfermline – Ferrytoll – Edinburgh
The 07.15, 07.45 & 08.15 Dunfermline to Edinburgh journeys will depart Dunfermline bus station 2 minutes earlier.  A new early journey at 05.50 from Edinburgh to Dunfermline will be introduced, with a connection available for onward travel to Glenrothes and Dundee.

Service X58/X60: St Andrews – Leven – Kirkcaldy – Ferrytoll – Edinburgh
The 05.40, 06.10 & 07.37 Leven – Edinburgh X58 journeys will be retimed to operate earlier than at present to help improve reliability.  The 07.10 St Andrews – Edinburgh X60 journey will operate 5 minutes earlier.

Service X59: St Andrews – Cupar – Glenrothes – Ferrytoll – Edinburgh
The 06.25 St Andrews – Edinburgh journey will operate 5 minutes earlier.  Within Cupar the service will operate via Station Road instead of Crossgate, stopping outside the rail station.

Service X61: Glenrothes – Kirkcaldy north – Ferrytoll – Edinburgh
There will no change to the timetable of this service, but the leaflet will be reprinted to show connections at Ferrytoll

No changes to Service 23 (St Andrews – Kinross – Stirling) but this can also be downloaded.

From Monday 4th July 2011, service changes will be occuring in Perthsire. Services that operate to Dundee (or connect with those that do) are affected as follows…

Service 53A/53B: Perth Royal Infirmary – High Carse Road – Inchture (for 16/16A/16B from Dundee) – Abernyte – Coupar Angus The times on this service will be revised between Inchture and Perth Royal Infirmary to help improve reliability, with services operating up to 5 minutes later as a result.  On journeys from Perth, the times between Inchture and Coupar Angus will be revised and the waiting time at Inchture (for the connection from Dundee) is removed, with journeys operating to up 9 minutes earlier as a result. The waiting time at Inchture is no longer needed since changes were applied on the 16 group, as the connecting time is now more generous. (Previous timetable contained in electronic Carse & Scone guide near the foot of the page, if you wish to compare and contrast!).

Service 57: Perth – Perth Airport – Balbeggie – Burrleton – Coupar Angus – Blairgowrie – Rattray – Alyth – Meigle – Newtyle – Muirhead – Birkhill – Dundee The timetable of this service will be revised to help improve reliability, with most journeys departing Dundee 5 minutes earlier than at present and with revised times along the route.  Early morning journeys from Perth will operate up to 10 minutes earlier than at present, while some evening journeys will run 10 minutes later.  There will be no change to the route of this service.

Service 58/58A: Perth – Scone Palace – Guildtown – Meikelour – Carsie – Blairgowrie (for 57 or 59 to Dundee) A new 1130 Blairgowrie – Perth journey will be introduced.  The 1315 Blairgowrie – Perth journey will operate 15 minutes later throughout.  Most journeys from Perth to Blairgowrie will operate up to 15 minutes later than at present.  (Previous timetable contained in electronic Carse & Scone guide near the foot of the page!)

Service 59: Dundee – Muirhead – Piper Dam – Kettins – Coupar Angus – Blairgowrie – Rattray A revised timetable will be introduced to help improve reliability, with most journeys to Dundee running up to 4 minutes earlier than at present.  Journeys currently starting/terminating at Muirhead will be extended to operate to/from Piperdam.

Another new timetable added on 12th May 2011 was the timetable for Stagecoach X7 and M W Nicoll 113 between Montrose, Stonehaven and Aberdeen up the coast. Take the 39/39A to Montose to change there for Service X7 (replaces 101) or 113 – with Service X7 now running through Montrose to Aberdeen, all day every day, and “fast” north of Stonehaven. Moffat & Williamson’s Dundee – Blackpool seasonal service timetable has also been uploaded, along with a map of the Stagecoach Fife City Connect/Express network.

Website update 26th May 2011 – map of Dundee City Centre bus stop names and locations and the September timetable for Service 53 between Dundee City Centre, Lochee Road, Lochee, Dryburgh/Park Hotel and Camperdown Country Park, for Dundee Flower & Food Festival. The company has confirmed that the timetable introduced last year will also run this year, but as ever, only on the three days of the year that the Festival is open – Friday 2nd, Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th September 2011.

Longtown Road, Dundee is closed between Bellisle Drive and Douglas Road/Asda Milton from Monday 8th August 2011 for 10 days. Changes are expected to Services 14, 14A, 15, 17, 17A. Further details to follow. Update – now completed.

Newport & Tayport road closures affecting services 42, 77, 77B, 92, 96, 96A, X42, X54 from 25th July 2011 and school bus services, plus Fishers Tours Scottish Express. Website update 23rd July 2011 Non-Dundee routes in Blue – as there are an increasing number of non-Dundee routes that I’d suggest for connections, these are now in blue to make them stand out. This does not include Service 81, which uses Baldovie Toll and Drumsturdy Road in Dundee – albeit only just!

 

From Monday 29th August 2011, Berwick Drive will be closed between Longhaugh Road and Ballumbie Road, for 2 weeks.

Service 15/17  Buses will operate through Whitfield as follows: Whitfield Drive – Lothian Crescent – New Whitfield Spine Road – Summerfield Avenue – Drumgeith Road – Peebles Drive – Ballumbie Road – Drumgeith Road – Summerfield Avenue – New Whitfield Spine Road then normal route to town.

Service 17S travelling to St Paul’s Academy will operate via Peebles Drive – Drumgeith Road – Summerfield Avenue – New Whitfield Spine Road – Lothian Crescent then normal route to St Paul’s Academy.

Services will operate Hail and Ride on the New Whitfield Spine Road as there are currently no bus stops. It is presumed Service 88 will do the same.

Lord Provosts Parade – Saturday 27 August 2011 is taking place in the City Centre between 2pm and 3pm

The following roads will be closed to all traffic : Crichton Street, Union Street, Whitehall Street and High Street

For the duration of the parade the following diversions will be in operation:

From Monday 12th September 2011, Stagecoach Bluebird Coastrider Express Service X7 (Montrose – Stonehaven – Aberdeen) will be extended to & from Dundee, via Arbroath. This new express service will run hourly between Dundee, Arbroath, Montrose, Stonehaven and Aberdeen. This new service will be operated by Stagecoach Bluebird and Stagecoach Strathtay. As a result, Service 39 will be revised to run between Arbroath (Warddykes) and Dundee, with the Montrose section of the 39 covered by the X7 and 30. Further details to follow.
Updated on 19th August 2011 – Stagecoach Bluebird and Stagecoach Strathtay will now operate a through, all day service from Dundee to Aberdeen, using some rather nice new Plaxton Elite bodied Volvo coaches. These will be fitted with leather seats and free WiFi, thus upgrading the corridor. Between Dundee and Montrose, Service X7 wil be limited stop along the A92 – stopping at Dundee Bus Station, Panmurefield, Muirdrum by-pass, Arbroath Bus Station, Marywell Gardens, Montrose Town Centre, then via all-stops along the A92 via St Cyrus, Johnshaven road end, Gourdon road end, Inverberbie, Kineff, Stonehaven, then onto Aberdeen.
Service X7 runs every hour for much of the day, Monday to Saturday daytimes, and every 2 hours on Sundays.
New Service 107 will be introduced every hour between Montrose and Stonehaven, replacing the links into Johnshaven and Gourdon, also every hour daytimes/2 hours Sundays.
Service 39 will be revised to run Monday to Saturday every 30 minutes (all stops) from Dundee to Arbroath, Warddykes, via the A92. Montrose will be covered Mon-Sat by the hourly Service 30 (which will become the stopping service) and newly extended Service X7 (limited stop).
Service 39A (evenings & Sundays) will cover the evening and Sunday stopping service Dundee – Carnoustie – Arbroath – Montrose, but will only run every 2 hours north of Arbroath – also see X7.
New timetables to follow – however the Stagecoach Bluebird elements have only just been registered, so this may be a little later than “normal”.

Updated yet again on 23rd August – I’ve got new timetables for Services 30 and 39/39A, but X7 is still awaited. In addition to the changes mentioned above, Service 39A will be revised to run via Montrose Railway Station, with the 18.15 from Montrose now starting at Arbroath.

Website update 15th August 2011 Lots of new stuff to download! New Dundee bus map now uploaded, along with some Stagecoach farecharts for Single fares around Dundee (the 99 is returns for some reason!) Also can now be downloaded is the 2010/2011 SESTRAN (South East Scotland) map, and the Stagecoach East Scotland Guide to Fares & Tickets leaflet – undated but correct to June 2011. Fife Council have issued a new edition of the Getting Around Fife map – as well as updated editions of some of the “Getting To…” Hospitals series. I now have these online here too – Getting To St Andrews Community Hospital, Getting To Victoria Hospital, Getting To Queen Margaret Hospital, and Getting from Fife to Nnewells Hospital. Also uploaded are the Fishers Tours Angus school buses from tomorrow (see service changes) and 260, 261, 262 Scottish Express timetables. Finally, as the Nordi Travel website appears to have gone, I have uploaded my digital copy of their current timetable leaflet. Change at Ferrytoll Park & Ride from a Dundee bus onto their 651 for Livingston. At weekends, Stagecoach X51 also operates between these points.

Website update 15th August 2011Angus schools go back on Tuesday 16th August 2011. As in previous years, Fishers Tours will be operating their school contracts as public services (Angus Council policy), but also these are extended (off their own back) to/from the depot at Mid Craigie Trading Estate. This year, for the first time, timetables are now included on this website, so scroll below for timetables beginning with A, F and K. Service B23 to Montrose Academy is now operated by either Glenesk Travel Co. Ltd. or Jamie’s Transport Services (I forget which) but it will not then be running into Dundee.

Website update 15th August 2011 Dundee City Council’s Sustainable Transport Team have moved – see the More Information page for the new contact address. Tayside House closed on 15th August 2011, with most council functions now at Dundee House. This is a refurbished building in North Lindsay Street that was empty for years, opposite the NCP ground-level car park. Not too far away from the one-time Alexander’s bus station (going WAY back!) – but in my time, I can recall the Transport Department moving out of Friarfield House, again not far away.

Website update 19th August 2011 Mecca Bingo buses to/from Dundee Playhouse no longer operate. Dundee High School timetable attached (also below). Updated 22/08/11 – now attached – that (aside from Asda Milton) should be the only misellaneous service recorded.

Website update 19th August 2011 In preperation for the forthcoming Service X7, a stand-alone timetable for Nicoll’s 113 has been uploaded.

Website update 23rd August 2011 Service 105 (Stonehaven – Banchory) is now included, for those who wish to travel to “Stoney” on the forthcoming X7 (or 20 to Forfar, 21/21A to Brechin then 24 to Stonehaven) – this will allow day trips, Monday to Friday, from Dundee to Deeside.

Website update 23rd August 2011 National Express Coaches “From & To Glasgow” leaflet now uploaded, dated June 2011. No Edinburgh one now… mind you, I can recall when there was one for Dundee services…

 

Dundee city centre road closures affecting services from 12th June 2011 (or 14th, depending on which you believe!) for 12 weeks. The section of road between the City Quay Roundabout and the East Marketgait junction will be closed to all eastbound traffic whilst these works taking place. The following diversions will be in place:

Stagecoach Services 42 (evening journeys only), 77, 96 & X42 Towards Ninewells – From the bridge to Riverside Roundabout then via High Street,
Crichton Street, Whitehall Crescent, Whitehall Street then resumes normal route. To Fife – Follows normal route except 96 service which will divert via Commercial Street and Seagate between Dock Street Busway and the bus station as per green route on map.

Services 42, 77B, 99 & X54 Towards Dundee bus station – From the bridge to Riverside Roundabout via High Street, Crichton Street, Dock Street BusWay, Commercial Street, Seagate and into the bus station. To Fife – Follows normal route

Service 69 (now withdrawn!) To Ninewells – Follows normal route to Tesco then High Street, Crichton Street, Whitehall Crescent, Whitehall Street then resumes normal route.
To Broughty Ferry – Follows normal route to Tesco then High Street, Crichton Street Dock Street BusWay, Seagate then resumes normal route.

All traffic will be diverted around the City Centre ring road and as a result of the increased volume of traffic, all bus/coach operators and services are likely to see some disruption to our services.

Hebrides Drive, Mill O’ Mains, Dundee will be partially closed from Monday 16th May 2011 for up to ten weeks, for the purpose of facilitating a sewer for a new housing project. National Express Dundee Service 36 (Monday to Saturday daytimes – and 36C too I presume?) will run on diversion : Normal route to Lewis Terrace, Mill o Mains, turning left prior to the bus stop. Turning right around at the turning point back along Hebrides Drive towards the Mill o Mains Shops. Left onto Eriskay Drive then normal route. Please note: 2 temporary bus stops have been sited on Hebrides Drive on the outward journey from Mill o Mains. Ther evening and Sunday Service 32B will also be diverted for the same reason – via normal route to Mill o Mains shops, turning left onto Forfar Road. At the roundabout turn right, back down Forfar Road turning left at the traffic lights. Normal route onto Fintry Road.

Union Street, City Centre, Dundee is closed southbound from Monday 16th May 2011 for 28 weeks for carriageway reconstruction and environmental improvement works. BUSES WILL NOT STOP IN UNION STREET – “Nethergate 1” will be the main pick up / set down for all services mentioned except services 32,32b,33 and 33a which will use “Crichton Street 2”. Starting in September 2011, Edinburgh services will be removed from Princes Street for 10 months, for further tram works. Citylink/Parks/Megabus will run non-stop from the Bus Station to the West End. Stagecoach services will be diverted (back) to George Street. Click here for a map and more details. Updated 20:53 on 25th August – City of Edinburgh Council has just voted to curtail the tram project at Haymarket. It is not known the impact on the Princes Street works. Mind you, they might just be using the time to remove the lines…. hopefully clarity on this will be forthcoming soon Update 09/09 – project since u-turned, so the roadworks were put on hold, but I understand will now start 1 week late.
Updated 18/09 – two weeks late, almost – started at 05.00 on Saturday 17th September 2011.

 

From Monday 12th September, Service changes to Service 30, 39, 39A, 107, and new X7, will be introduced as previously mentioned – you can now download all the timetables in the grid below. Very late news – the new 07.27 Service 39 from Arbroath (Warddykes School) to Dundee has been extended to commence from Montrose High Street. Download an updated Service 39/39A timetable, as well as a new Service 30 timetable also replaced with one that includes all Nicoll’s runs, and the Montrose – Arbroath summary.

 

 

Late update 20:53 on 25th August 2011
Had this news in re changes to National Express Service 5 changes from Monday 29th August 2011. Yes, again. “With effect from Monday 29 August 2011 buses which have currently been terminating at Balgillo Road opp Kintail Place will continue around the Balgillo Road – Strathmore Street – Nursery Road loop as far as Nursery Road opp Archer Street.”
Update 26th August 2011: This short-notice change has been accepted by the Office of the Traffic Commissoner. You can download a new timetable here. The change is to extend buses that would only run as far as Balgillo, onwards around the loop as far as the last stop on Nursery Road. The timetable does not yet have a route description or cover, but I will do this in due course. EDIT: this has already been done, not sure why I thought it wasn’t. Link corrected 18th September 2011, or download from the timetable list.

 

Update 6th October 2011 – various leaflets updated with minor changes, and link corrections. This includes a change to the operation of 651 (Nordi have ceased) and Stagecoach 27C, now a few mins earlier.

Update 9th Sepember 2011 – complete (independant) guide to all Stagecoach East Scotland tickets online, plus new boundary maps and prices for Stagecoach Bluebird.

Ferrytoll Park & Ride offers a free parking facility for travelling off by bus into Edinburgh, Livingston etc.
However, with immediate effect (owing to a lack of space), there will be a 7 nights maximum parking session. For more information call the Park & Ride site supervisor on 01383 420197.

Slightly outwith our area (but remember, that’s how the M11 started!) is the introduction on 12th September 2011 of the (un-numbered) Megabus.com overnight sleeper coach between Glasgow and London (non-stop). Bookings will be online from 5th September. In the meantime, you can download an article from Bus & Coach Buyer about the new service, with times, fares and photographs. Introduction may be delayed until 3rd October (when the others change) – tickets are still not on sale. Update – starting on 21st October 2011.

From 3rd October 2011 Scottish Citylink/Megabus/Parks “joint venture” (along with Megabus and Citylink under their own brands) will make some changes to their express coach network. Service 973 (Dundee – Perth – Tyndrum – Oban) is withdrawn for the winter period. Service M8 (Glasgow – Stirling – Perth – Dundee) will be revised with an additional Monday to Friday coach from Perth Bus Station to Dundee Bus Station at 09.43, Monday to Friday only. Service M11 from Glasgow (Starts from London – Glasgow – Dundee – Aberdeen) at 08.40 will now leave at 08.30. Service M92 (Edinburgh – Dundee) – the 20.45 from Edinburgh to Dundee journey is withdrawn Monday to Saturday, but will still run on Sundays. Passengers will still be able to travel between these points at this time, simply by boarding Service M90 (Inverness coach) at the same time, and then changing to Service M9 at Broxden Park & Ride. An additional M92 from Edinburgh to Dundee on Saturdays will operate at 07.35, providing a connection to Service M9 for Aberdeen at Dundee. There are some minor tweaks to London routes M11 and M20, and, as well as the Megasleeper, a new Service M18 will run daily between Rugby, Coventry, Birmingham, Preston, Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Dundee Local Holiday is coming up this coming Monday – 10th October 2011 – which is now the second Monday of October, as the schools were in the previous week. National Express Dundee will be running a Saturday service all day on this date. Stagecoach Strathtay were registered to operate a holiday service the previous week – so you may need to double-check.

 

From Tuesday 11 October 2011 for 5 days, Hiltown will be closed northbound between Victoria Road and William Barclay Square. National Express Dundee Service 4 (City Centre – Dryburgh) will divert via Victoria Road, Dens Road and Alexander Street, then turning right onto Hilltown. Normal route to City Centre.

 

From Monday, 3 October 2011, for 1 week Union Street will be closed between Nethergate and Whitehall Crescent for carriageway resurfacing works. Subsequently it will be closed in a southbound direction for a further 9 weeks for carriageway reconstsruction (sic) and environmental improvement works. Please note: Buses will not stop in Whitehall Street

Services 1a, 1b, 18, 19, 21, 36C:

Normal route to City Centre then via Whitehall Crescent, Whitehall Street then left into Nethergate to follow normal route.

Services 32, 32b, 33, 33a:

Normal route to City Centre then via Whitehall Crescent, Whitehall Street then right into Crichton Street to follow normal route.

Services 5, 23:

Normal route to Dock Street (Shore Terrace) then via ring road to West Marketgait (Railway Station), then turn right into High Street to follow normal route.

Service 4:

Normal route to Meadowside then via Royal Exchange, Ward Road, West Marketgait  to Nethergate, High Street.

From Monday 17 October 2011 for 10 days, Ballinard Road will be closed for 10 days, for carriageway resurfacing works. National Express Service 26C’s two afternoon journeys that run down Ballinard Road will be diverted via Balgillo Road to Claypotts Junction, then Claypotts Road, Victoria Road, then normal route. Other direction is unaffected as it is not served by bus this way.

ONE-DAY SPECIAL EVENT ON SATURDAY 27th OCTOBER 2011
Stagecoach Strathtay will be running an ex-London Routemaster (fairly certain that it will be one of the group that Stagecoach used to compete with Strathtay in Perth back in the early 1990’s, but that’s water under the bridge now I think!) on Service 73 between Dundee and Broughty Ferry or Carnoustie. A special fare of £2.00 (Adult) or £1.00 (Child) will apply on this one-off service. The announcement is to celebrate 25 years of Tayway 73 – BUT I’m fairly sure Tayway (back to Services 41-44) goes back to 1980/1981? Certainly this is 25 years since the Tayway network started it’s conductor-operated, cross-city, 70-number series, format.

If you can’t get out this Saturday, there are also commemorative mugs and pens for sale at the Arbroath and Dundee Bus Station Travel Shops, to commemorate, for £4.00.

Stagecoach Strathtay would like to advise passengers of the forthcoming closure of Seagate Bus Station from Monday 10th October for approximately
2 -3 weeks due to resurfacing works on the concourse.

The travel shop and customer waiting areas will remain open throughout this period, however, all services will be subject to redirection as follows:

Services to Fife, excluding 77 & 77B will operate from Trades Lane while services 77 & 77B will use the stops at the back of Marks & Spencers and the stop opposite Seagate bus station.
Service 39 will operate via Seagate and use the current 73 stop
Services 16, 57 & 59 will turn right at the Busway, left along Dock St and left up Trades Lane.
Service 20 will operate straight down Commercial St, turn left along Dock St and left up Trades Lane
X7 services will operate past the bus station, unloading at the second stop then continue along Seagate turn left down Commercial St, left along Dock St, left up Trades Lane to the stop opposite the bus station.

All Citylink and Megabus services will use the layby at the rear of the bus station for the duration of these works.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused due to these necessary works.

Special Announcement regarding the public sector work strikes on 30th November 2011 – the vast majority of local bus services will operate normally.
Schools will be closed in the majority of cases (check locally) so dedicated school buses may not operate – some operators will run them anyway.
In Perth & Kinross and Angus, 30th November was meant to be a School Holiday/public holiday (St Andrews Day) anyway, so local public transport will run to a School Holiday timetable anyway.
In Fife, all schools are closed. Bus Stations in Fife will also be closed, but in most cases, buses should still be able to stop there – please take care if travelling to/from any of the Fife bus stations.

Clepington Road closed from Arklay Street to Court Street North Diversion

14/14a from Ninewells: Normal route to Graham Street then via Graham Street, Kingsway West, Old Glamis Roundabout, Kingsway East to Pitkerro Road Roundabout then normal route onto Pitkerro Road. Diversion will operate same diversion from Douglas turning up Graham Street.

Starting this month (October 2011), both Stagecoach and National Express are offering new weekly Student travel tickets, sold on the bus. The Stagecoach one is the New Student Weekly Megarider, sold by the driver/conductor, and you get unlimited travel by Stagecoach buses (within the Dundee Megarider area, so inc. Invergowrie, Tealing, Muirhead, Tayport, Wormit and more!) – 7 Days of travel for only £7.00.
National Express Dundee also have one for sale on-bus – the Student Weekly Ticket gives 7 days of travel for only £8.40.
In both cases, a Uni matric or college card will be required when you buy, and subsequently use, the ticket.

National Express Dundee have reduced the price of the Daysaver5 from £7.00 to £5.00 for the school holidays. This ticket allows up to five people to travel together at any time of day, provided they travel together. PROMOTION SHOULD NOW BE OVER BUT DO DOUBLE-CHECK. NOTHING HAS YET REPLACED IT! Updated 19th August – offer continues until Sunday 23rd October 2011. NOW DISCONTINUED.

With effect from Sunday 15th August 2011 until the end of September 2011, a trial is taking place with National Express Dundee weekly tickets being sold on the bus – only on Services 5, 18, 19, 28, 29. Once you buy your ticket, you can use it like a normal Weekly Bus Pass – except there is no need for photo ID, and it’s transferrable – that only applies if you buy your £11 weekly on the bus, from the driver, on Services 5, 18, 19, 28, 29. Once you buy it, it can be used on all normal National Express Dundee bus services, for seven days from the date of issue. Remember, you will need the exact money, as change cannot be given. The ticket will also start as soon as you buy it. Still being advertised on 21st October 2011!

FURTHER INFORMATIOn – the new Dundee weekly ticket is also on sale on Service 22.

EVEN LATER INFORMATION – from Sunday 27th November 2011, this ticket can now be bought and sold on EVERY National Express Dundee service.

Stagecoach Fife express services from 12th December 2011 – Service X59 now runs through from St Andrews to Edinburgh on Sundays, and Service X24 additionally stops at Bankhead Roundabout, Glenrothes. Many other changes on Sundays to accomodate revised X59 service, plus Services X50 and X51 are now all-stops. Update 28th November 2011 – Short notice changes to Services 9S/10S (one bus extended to City Centre) and Service 30 Arbroath – Stracathro/Edzell – Nicoll’s journeys revised and retimed considerably at the request of the local Mental Health staff team who are now based at Stracathro.

Service 202 will have a revised route from 12th December 2011 – although the VOSA announcement showed the date as 12th December 2012!!! Service 28/29 – Closed for 2 weeks from Monday 5 December 2011

Service X7 will have an additional journey from 12th December 2011, between Stonehaven and Aberdeen update 05/12 – Mon-Fri 0655 or Saturday 0710 Aberdeen to Stonehaven . This does not effect the Dundee timetable, but a new version of the Stonehaven – Aberdeen summary includes the new journey from this date. Further changes will apply to Service X7 from 9th January 2012, when the service will serve Inverkeillor for an experimental period. UPDATE 13th DECEMBER 2011 – new timetable uploaded.

 

Fishers Service 255 is being withdrawn, after operating for the last time on 23rd January 2012. Further changes to the Scottish Express network will follow in Spring 2012.

Service 41 (Kirkcaldy – Cupar for Dundee) and X42 (Kirkcaldy – Ladybank – Ninewells Hospital) will both serve the new access roads in Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy. Minor change to peak time X61 (Glenrothes – Edinburgh), 747 (Edinburgh Airport – Ferrytoll – Inverkeithing – Dunfermline) will be rerouted and retimed (now via Kirkliston, but not Ingilston). First Service 651 will be increased to run to Livingston every hour to/from Fife, and will connect at Ferrytoll Park & Ride for through journeys to Dundee. Timetables to follow when ready. UPDATED 8th January 2012 – new timetables now online for 41/41A/41B, X26/X27, X42, X61, 747 as well as 651 (also see below). We have also uploaded the new Service X37/X40 – a replacement for the current X1 and 37/40 between Kirkcaldy and Glenrothes, but fast via the Thornton by-pass. Also the stopping service via Thornton to Leslie becomes 38/39 – Leslie now covered by the 38, although will run as 38A in the evenings (old X1 evening variation). Why are these here? Well, you can change at Glenrothes for connections to Dundee when X42 or 41/42 combinations are not an option.

In January, First Service 651 is increased to every hour between Livingston and Dunfermline, offering connections at Ferrytoll to/from Dundee – Concessionary Entitlement Cards and OneTicket accepted throughout. Click here for new 651 timetable.

Service 77B is unable to run around the loop in Wormit via Crosshill Terrace, and will instead run via Riverside Road to Bay Road. This is owing to roadworks, until at least 24th January 2012.

Bus shelters may have been stopped from zapping passing users (I *think* they’ve all been done!), and there is still no electricity supply problems here!

From Monday 20th February 2012 – Stagecoach East Scotland would like to advise passengers of a small timetable amendment to service 16A from the 20th February 2012. From this date, the 1545 Perth High School to Dundee journey will be revised to commence from Perth South Street at 1555. School pupils entitled to school travel will continue to be able to board at the school. Fare paying passengers travelling to the city centre can make use of alternative facilities provided by StagecoachGold service 7. (In other words – the bit of the trip that brings the school kids from Perth High School into town, and onwards, is no longer in public service. Non-scholar pass holding passengers should board the bus at Perth South Street, Stop N, as per the rest of the day. If you are travelling back from point on the Glasgow Road, use 7 to Perth, South Street, and change there. No change to the morning service. A new timetable can be found here.

Fancy going Panda-spotting at Edinburgh Zoo? Stagecoach will be running a daily direct service from Aberdeen, Forfar, Dundee, Glenrothes, Kirkcaldy and Ferrytoll Park & Ride to/from Edinburgh Zoo and city centre. This new service starts on Monday 27th February 2012 and was registered as Service X1 but may operate as PX1. A timetable will be online, once we know which of the two versions I’ve seen are correct!

UPDATED 19th JANUARY 2012 – confirmed timetable for Service X1 (Aberdeen) and TT1 (Ayr) to/from Edinburgh Zoo can be had here.

Changes from 25th March 2012 will happen to National Express Dundee Services 4, 14/14A, 18/19, 26/26C, 30/31/51. Further details to follow.

Update 27th February 2012 – new interim timetables have been uploaded for Services 4 – Services 14/14A – Services 18/19 – Services 26/26C – Services 30/31 are still awaited at this time, pending publication of the National Express Dundee timetable leaflets. Service 4 – 07.20 from Dryburgh 4 now at 07.15 and 5 mins earlier throughout. Most buses will start at Seagate/Gellatly Street at 42 or 43 past the hour. Departures from Kilberry Street to Dryburgh 1 min later, Dryburgh 2-3 minutes earlier, but same times from Byron Street. Afternoon service recast – 14.43 from Seagate follows this pattern to Byron St 16.28 before having an extra few minutes into town. Buses then run at

Services 18/19 – increased running times on Sundays – revised timings as a result.

Services 26/26C – Mon-Fri 06.10 26 Ninewells to Whitfield now 5 minutes later throughout. 16.10 and 16.40 from Whitehall St (Mon-Fri) start at Seagate a few minutes earlier. 06.50 26 ex Ninewells now 06.40 and retimed throughout. 06.20 from Whitfield to City (via Ninewells) continues to Seagate. Other changes limited to a minute or two. Again, I don’t spot anything different on Saturdays.

Services 30/31 – service diverted at Technology Park to run to/from Invergowrie.

Oh lordy – yes, yet more road closures in Dundee City Centre, from 19th March 2012 – Seagate (No word how National Express plan to get the 5 etc. around this one yet.)

Stagecoach East Scotland would like to advise customer that for 5 days from Monday 19th March 2012, Seagate is closing from East Marketgait to Dens Street.

For the duration of this closure, service 73 will turn left at the Junction of Seagate, St Andrews Street and Trades Lane and will continue up St Andrews St, King Street and Princess Street and will then revert back to its normal route.

Services 75, 78, 79 and 39A will divert down East Marketgait along East Dock Street up Market Street then turn right onto Broughty Ferry Road and will then revert back to normal route.

Buses will not serve the bus stop in Seagate opposite the bus station during this time.

Apologies for any inconvenience these circumstances outwith our control may cause.

Brechin Flood Prevention Scheme – installation of non-return valves

Work to improve the drainage of surface water in East Mill Road and East Mill Industrial Estate in Brechin started this week UPDATE 14/03/12 – it was due to start on Monday, but has now been postponed until today.

Angus Council’s contractors are installing five non-return valves and constructing two underground drainage chambers, to lessen flooding in the surface water drainage system for the area.

Work started on Monday (12 March) and is due to be completed by Friday 5 April.

Traffic management arrangements are in place on East Mill Road on the approach to Brechin Bridge. Various bus services on diversion – including some that connect or continue to Dundee. Click here for full details.

Service 14a ex Ninewells Hospital

• The 0630, 0700 and 0730 14a service ex Ninewells Hospital will not serve the Technology Park and will operate as Service 14 along Charleston Drive, Arran Drive etc.
• The 1545, 1615, 1705, 1735 Service 14a ex Ninewells Hospital will show Service 14a but operate as Service 14 and will not operate to the Technology Park.

Service 14a ex Douglas

• The 0641, 0712 and 0745 14a service from Douglas will operate the Service 14 route omitting the Technology Park

Fare information for Service 14a passengers affected by the above diversion

Service 14a passengers arriving at Ninewells Hospital can transfer free to either Service 5, 17, 30/31 by showing their relevant ticket to the driver.

Passengers who would normally board Service 14a within the Technology Park can board Services 5, 17, 30/31 and be transferred free to Ninewells Hospital for onward travel on Service 14,14a

Service 17, 30/31 to Technology Park

• Services will be diverted from Ninewells Hospital to James Black Place and then via Charleston Drive, Spey Drive, Mallaig Avenue, Explorer Road to Apollo Way roundabout and then the reverse of this route back to Ninewells Hospital.

Service 36c to Ninewells Hospital

• Will follow normal route from City Centre until Perth Road at Tom McDonald Avenue and then via Ninewells Avenue, Dickson Avenue, Charleston Drive and then James Black Place to Ninewells Hospital.   The same diversion in reverse will be operated back to City Centre.

Stagecoach East Scotland would like to advise passengers of diversions to services due to a road closure at Ninewells Hospital.

From Monday 5 March 2012, Kirsty Semple Way will be closed for up to 2 weeks for roadworks.  Most services serving Ninewells Hospital will be subject to diversion.

Services 16, 16A, 16B, 77 and 333 from Perth/Invergowrie will divert via Explorer Road, Mallaig Avenue, Spey Drive and Charleston Drive to the hospital, and via Charleston Drive, Dickson Avenue and Ninewells Avenue to Dundee city centre.  These diversions will apply in the opposite direction towards Invergowrie/Perth.

Service 39A to/from Invergowrie will divert via Explorer Road, Mallaig Avenue, Spey Drive and Charleston Drive in both directions.  Charleston Avenue and Dickson Avenue will be served as normal.

Service 96/96A to/from St Andrews will divert via Charleston Drive, Dickson Avenue and Ninewells Avenue in both directions. In addition the morning peak journeys from Ninewells at 0725 and 0935 will leave 5 minutes earlier and operate via the Tech Park then direct towards the city centre via Perth Road. Afternoon peak journeys will depart from Ninewells at 1640, 1700, 1740 and 1910 and similarly operate via the Tech Park then direct towards the city centre via Perth Road.

Please note that buses will not call at bus stops on the diversion routes.

Road Closures in City Centre – week commencing 18th February 2012 for 4 different weekends

Diversions around Dundee City Centre (demolision ot Tayside House) are not expected to have major effects on local buses, but will do so with Services 4, 5, 15, 17, 22, 26, 26C, 32, 32B, 33, 33A, and other Stagecoach/JP/TeeJay Travel services in the vicinity. Dock Street will be closed eastbound between Crichton Street and Castle Street, on 18th and 19th February, 25th and 26th February, 10th and 11th March, 17th and 18th March. During this time, all services run from the foot of Crichton Street via South Marketgait to Commercial Street, picking up normal route thereafter.

 

Ward Road, West Bell Street and West Marketgait in City Centre – week commencing 5th March 2012 for three weeks

A new pedestrian crossing is being installed, and as a result, a few changes to local bus routes will happen. Some slightly different route patterns will happen, but no bus stops will be lost or relocated – as far as I know!

Service 202 will leave Ward Road and turn LEFT not right onto West Marketgait, to the Westport roundabout. Buses will then turn back up West Marketgait, and resuming normal route.

All services running via Courthouse Square i.e. 1A/1B/1C to St Marys, 18/19/21 to Kirkton, early morning 32/33’s, 28/29 to Douglas, etc. will stay on West Marketgait past AluLite/Swish and onto the Dudhope Roundabout – return back down West Marketgait past Police HQ and turn left at the District Court, resuming normal route.

 

Out of town changes; A926 at Pandanaram UPDATE 13/03/12 – because of very good weather, the road is reopening early, on Wednesday 14th March 2012 at 11.00. Whoddathunkit?

Stops in Central Edinburgh will be disrupted until further notice, as a result of works on the Edinburgh Trams project. Citylink/Megabus/Parks Services and Stagecoach Services are subject to diversions and delay – click the links to go direct to that part of the information page. For the full list click here.

Only the second pernament Nightbus service in Dundee’s history (as opposed to for special events etc.) has been proposed by National Express Dundee management. All the information that has been given so far is that the service will run between Dundee’s nightclub district in the City Centre (i.e. back of Fatties!/front of the new Casino/Tesco) to/from Broughty Ferry. This service is proposed to run from the Summer, and we will expand on this when more information can be had. Read this article (via The Courier) for all the information.

Fishers Tours Scottish Express Service 239 (Dundee – coast – Aberdeen) is being withdrawn after running for the last time on 26th April 2012. Stagecoach X7 provides a replacement.

Speaking of the X7 – no change to the Dundee journeys, but there have been changes to the Stonehaven journeys on the 7. This no longer includes the Dundee journeys, so it is no longer listed below – but can be downloaded here.

Friendly Bus services were reviewed in March 2012 – and now new timetable leaflets have been printed, and are now online too, for this useful service. If you’ve never heard of it before – basically it’s a service for those who struggle to use regular buses. It comes to your sheltered housing scheme/complex, takes you shopping, and has a help and helping you aboard. There are no fares to pay, so you don’t need to qualify for a bus pass to use it. Download timetables for the Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays are all now online.

We’ve been around for three years last month (11/02/2009) – thanks to everyone who finds this website useful!

 

 

From 15th April 2012 there will be a minor change to Stagecoach 57 (Dundee – Blairgowrie – Perth), which doesn’t affect a Dundee journey, but I thought we’d spread the word. The 14.35 from Blair to Perth on college days will now terminate at Perth, Kinnoull Street (i.e. council offices) instead of going to the Bus Station. Download a new timetable here. From 9th and 16th April 2012 Stagecoach Bluebird and Stagecoach East Scotland are changing many fares. Most go up, some stay the same, and some have been reduced in price. Download more details for Bluebird (i.e. X1 and X7) or East Scotland (everything else) via the links.

From Monday 21st May 2012 the Citylink, Megabus and Parks Summer timetables commence. Dundee – Perth – Oban (973) recommences, and there are new timetables for Dundee – Glasgow, Dundee – Edinburgh, Aberdeen – Glasgow, Aberdeen – Edinburgh, and the London – Sheffield – Edinburgh – Inverness M20 will divert at Edinburgh to Glasgow. From Monday 28th May 2012 retendering by Angus Council will bring many changes to contracted services. NEW SERVICE National Express Dundee Service 5N (Dundee City Centre – Broughty Ferry – Barnhill) A new late night bus service for the first time in the City. Late night buses leave Ward Road, Post Office at 01.00, 02.05, 03.10, at weekends, via Broughty Ferry – Brook Street/town centre, before heading north to Forthill, Balgillo and Barnhill. Stagecoach Strathtay Services 21/21A/21B (Forfar for Dundee – Aberlemno or Finavon – Brechin – Stracathro and/or Edzell) This service has not yet gone up for tender, but will be doing so in 2013. However, on Sundays, the 21A service was interworked with the 30. Stagecoach have lost the Sunday service on the 30 (all except the first run of the day) to M W Nicoll, so a temporary contract has been agreed until the end of the Mon-Sat contract, when the entire 21/21A/21B can be tendered together. An extra evening return trip is added and other journeys are changed by a few minutes. Timetable can now be downloaded.

National Express Dundee 22 (Ninewells Hospital – Blackness Road – Dundee City Centre – Strathmartine Road – Downfield – Craigowl View) 20.10 and 20.40 Service 22 buses from Ninewells Hospital are renumbered 22A and leave three minutes earlier. After Downfield terminus, the bus will operate via Strathmartine Hospital, Bridgefoot to Craigowl View Roundabout i.e. not entering the scheme, then continuing back down Strathmartine Road to Downfield, before returning via the normal 22 route to Ninewells Hospital. This will operate every day of the week – and is therefore the only Sunday bus to Strathmartine Hospital after an absence of some time (although the hospital is now a fraction of it’s original size in terms of utilisation. The current timetable shows “then every 10 mins or less” but the new timetable shows every journey – the frequency is unchanged at every 7-8 minutes Monday-Friday or every 10 minutes on Saturdays. NEW SERVICE National Express Dundee Service 27 (Forfar, Tesco – Letham – Friockheim) This service provides one Mon-Fri bus from Forfar Tesco at 10.40 and Friockheim, Stance, at 12.13. This extra journey has been timed to allow the National Express Dundee driver off the 81 to take a meal break at Friockheim Wishart’s depot…Timetable can now be downloaded. Stagecoach Strathtay Services 27/27A/27B/27C (Forfar – Letham – Friockheim – Arbroath – Cliffburn) Mon-Sat daytime buses that run from Cliffburn via Arbroath High Street/Post Office will no longer do the loop past the Library/Hill Place, Hill Street, High Street – instead turning right at the Library directly into West Abbey Street. National Express Dundee 28/29 (Douglas – Dundee City Centre – Charleston) These services now have a reduced early morning timetable, with a reduction in the number of buses. Stagecoach Strathtay and MW Nicoll Service 30 (Arbroath/Montrose – A935 – Brechin – Stracathro Hospital and/or Edzell) Contracts for the early morning, afternoon, evening & Sunday journeys were all up for tender. As a result, some school and peak buses operated by Stagecoach will be ran by Nicoll’s. In the evening, Monday to Friday, the contract passes from Nicoll’s to Travel Wishart – but Nicoll’s have registered a commercial bus 10 mins ahead of the evening Wishart’s service, on the first two journeys. Saturday service is all Stagecoach, except for the second morning run which is now Nicoll’s. The Sunday service passes from Stagecoach to Nicoll’s, except one journey. Monday-Friday daytime service is an hourly Stagecoach service, and an hourly Nicoll’s service, more-or-less unchanged, with just Stagecoach on Saturdays. NEW SERVICE Stagecoach Strathtay Service 30A (Montrose – Inverkeilor – Warddykes – Arbroath) New Evening & Sunday replacement for this half of the 39A – the other half is now 73C/73E. There will also be one morning bus at 07.04 Mon-Sat from Montrose to Arbroath as 30A, replacing the current 39 through service, but presumably working through. Timetable can now be downloaded. NEW SERVICE Stagecoach Strathtay and Travel Wishart 30B (Montrose Station – Borrowfield – Hillside Bridge – Midgrip Cottages – Dubton – A935 – Brechin – Stracathro and/or Edzell) Following the closure of Sunnyside Hospital, staff have been moved to Stracathro. As part of the retendering process, the staff at the hospitals were approached, and asked for an evening diversion on Service 30 to cover Hillside and Borrowfield – as they’d previously had the 47 to work when they worked at Sunnyside Hospital. So, the 21.22 Service 30 from Stracathro, and the 22.45 Service 30 from Montrose Station, are both renumbered 30B, and follow this diversion – Monday to Saturday. National Express Dundee Services 32, 32B, 33, 33A (Fintry/Whitfield Shops – Forfar Road – Dundee City Centre) The 33A (Mon-Fri) that leave Crichton Street at 08.49 (but does not run around the City loop or return) has been withdrawn – the bus now does a 36 before working the 208 for the rest of the day. National Express Dundee Services 36, 36A, 36C (Claverhouse – Linlathen or Forfar Road – Dundee City Centre) An extra bus leaves Commercial Street at 09.00 to Claverhouse, but does not return as a 36 (the bus then works the 208 during the day). NEW SERVICE National Express Dundee Service X39 (Dundee City Centre – A92 – Carnoustie) A new service providing a single bus per direction from Dundee, High Street at 08.57, returning from Carnoustie 13.47, Monday to Friday. Stagecoach Strathtay Service 39 (Dundee City Centre – A92 – Arbroath) The new timetable for Service 39 shows hourly between Dundee and Arbroath/Warddykes, but the electronic bus service registration “virtual document” – along with the paper Arbroath Town timetable – shows every half hour on this route. Journey from Montrose in the morning peak now runs as 30A from Montrose to Arbroath. Last Friday/Saturday bus from Dundee city centre is withdrawn but see Service 73E. Stagecoach Strathtay Service 39A (Kingoodie/Invergowrie/Ninewells – Dundee – Carnoustie – Arbroath – Warddykes, Inverkeilor – Montrose) Service number discontinued, but most buses will still run at similar times. Section of route from Kingoodie/Invergowrie/Ninewells to Arbroath will run as 73C/73E. Section of route between Arbroath, Warddykes, Inverkeilor and Montrose will run as 30A.

Stagecoach Strathtay Services 73, 73A, 73B (Ninewells Hospital – Dundee City Centre – Craigie Avenue or Blackscroft – Broughty Ferry – Monifieth – Carnoustie – Arbroath – Cliffburn) Section beyond Arbroath Bus Station withdrawn and replaced by new Service 44/44A. The current service has slightly extended journey times to add reliability, include a diversion via Charles Avenue in Timmergreens (rather than the shops) and some 73’s (via Muirdrum) now run as 73A (via Easthaven) or vice-versa. The current Weekday three buses an hour to Ashludie Hosp/Broomhill Drive will now all run via Ethiebeaton Park (Three buses an hour, instead of one) in the off-peak weekday period. Saturday daytime service reduced to four buses an hour between Ninewells Hospital and Monifieth High Street, with two buses to Arbroath, one terminating in Carnoustie, and the other running to Ethiebeaton Park, Ashludie Hospital and Broomhill Drive. NEW SERVICE 73C, 73E (Kingoodie/Invergowrie – Ninewells Hospital – Dundee City Centre – Broughty Ferry – Carnoustie – Arbroath) This new service replaces the Kingoodie/Invergowrie/Ninewells Hospital – Arbroath section of evening & Sunday Service 39A (the section beyond Arbroath to Warddykes and Montrose is now part of 30A). Buses will run on the current 39A route, with Muirdrum runs numbered 73C, and Easthaven runs numbered 73E. Some minor changes, but notable is that the 23.07 Invergowrie to Arbroath daily journey (via Easthaven Mon-Sat or Muirdrum on Sundays) is now Sundays only. The Mon-Sat bus presumably runs off at Invergowrie back to Dundee depot. There is an alternative bus at 23.07 Mon-Sat as a Service 16 from Invergowrie, Main Street, direct along the Perth Road to Dundee Bus Station. An alternative bus from Ninewells Hospital via Blackness Road runs on National Express 22 at 23.10. As a result, the 23.47 from Dundee High Street 39 to Arbroath Bus Station on Friday & Saturday nights (via the A92) now runs as Service 73E at 23.45, replacing the withdrawn last 39A. These evening & Sunday services will not run via Charles Avenue in Timmergreens, but the revised 44A will. Timetable can now be downloaded. Stagecoach Strathtay 75 (Dundee City Centre – Broughty Ferry – Grange Road – Ethiebeaton Park) Saturday service withdrawn. Remaining Mon-Fri Eastbound buses will leave Dundee High Street at 09.19, 10.19, 11.19, 12.19, 13.19, 14.19, 16.49, 17.19, 17.39, with buses back from Ethiebeaton Park/Dobbies at 07.10, 08.03, 09.47, 10.47, 11.47, 12.47, 13.47, 14.47 – reducing the peak “against the flow” buses, and running the main day service 9 – 11 minutes later throughout. Ethiebeaton Park is also covered by the 39, X39, 73/73A/73B, 79A/79C, 81 and 206. Timetable can now be downloaded.

JP Coaches Service 81 (Carnoustie – Monifieth – Monikie or Wellbank – Forfar) Service changes hands for the first time since being introduced eight years ago, and will now be operated by National Express Dundee (also see 27 and X39). Buses from Carnoustie, Carlogie Road at Panbride Road to Forfar will now run 20 minutes later throughout (was 09.10, now 09.30). The return bus now leaves Forfar, Tesco, 10 minutes later (was 12.35, now 12.45), before continuing to arrive Carnoustie, Barry Road, 11 minutes later. Beyond that the bus displays X39. JP Coaches and TeeJay Travel Services 137, 138, 139 (Services to Kirkton of Auchterhouse, Bridgefoot, Strathmartine Hospital, Sidlaws, Tealing Village, Inveraldie and Murroes)
Service changed considerably, with al contracts won by National Express Dundee, and additional commercial journeys added to the mix. The new timetable provides all buses running beyond Downfield (at least to Kirkton but the majority continuing to Dundee College and Dundee City Centre), and some extra journeys.
Service 137/137A starts at Dundee High Street via Dundee College –  Kingsway Campus, Asda Kirkton, (Downfield Surgery or Balgowan Avenue?), Downfield Cox Street terminus, then 137 via Bridgefoot then Strathmartine, and back to Downfield, whereas 137A runs to Strathmartine then Bridgefoot, and back to Downfield, before retuning to town. A total of 9 137/137A buses during the day to/from Strathmartine/Bridgefoot, plus two Service 22A’s, and three Service 138’s, Monday to Friday. Saturday sees six 137/137A’s, one 138, and two 22A’s. Sunday sees two 22A’s (new). This provides a grand total of 14 buses Mon-Fri, and 9 buses on Saturdays – currently 10 or 6 – to/from Strathmartine Hospital and Bridgefoot (plus one 139 in one direction). Also see Service 22/22A, Service 138 and Service 139.
Service 138 starts at Dundee High Street via Dundee College – Kingsway Campus, Asda Kirkton, (Downfield Surgery or Balgowan Avenue?), Downfield Cox Street terminus, Strathmartine Hospital, Bridgefoot, then in a loop via Leoch, Kirkton of Auchterhouse, Braeside, and Newlandhead, before returning. There are three return buses Mon-Fri and one on Saturdays. When added to Service 139, (via Murroes) there will be six buses a day Mon-Fri to/from Auchterhouse, as now. Saturday service is down from four buses a day, to three – but they all run to/from Dundee City Centre.
Service 139 has been changed to incorporate the peak bus from Service 138 (JP) and the main 139 service by TeeJay. Service 139 leaves from Dundee High Street via Forfar Road and South Powrie to Murroes, although the morning bus will still run via Pitkerro Road and Burnside of Duntrune. The buses will then continue to Tealing and Inveraldie villages, with all but one bus continuing to Auchterhouse. One morning bus Mon-Sat runs via the 138 route from Dundee High Street via Kirkton to Bridgefoot and Auchterhouse, then continuing back to Dundee via Murroes. Current Murroes service is maintained with an additional peak journey that also serves Tealing and Inveraldie villages. Download each timetable by clicking on the service number.

National Express Dundee Service 206 (Ethiebeaton Park – Broughty Ferry – West Ferry) An extra bus will operate at 15.00 from Ethiebeaton Park to Strathern Road only via Dundee Road. Jet Service 747 (Inverkeithing – Ferrytoll P&R for Dundee – Edinburgh Airport) A revised timetable will be introduced to improve reliability, with minor retiming particularly at peak periods.  In addition, in order to best match the number of evening flights at the Airport, the Sunday evening frequency will be increased to every 30mins, while the Saturday evening frequency will be reduced to hourly. TAYPORT ROADWORKS – FINISHED EARLY AND ROAD REOPENED 21st JULY 2012

Temporary Service Changes to Stagecoach in Fife/Stagecoach Strathtay Services 42, 96, 96A, Moffat & Williamson 92, Fishers Tours Services 259, 260, 261, 262; once again this Summer between the Tay Bridge Access and Tayport Cemtery. This will be closed for a complete six week period – from Monday 9th July 2012 to Sunday 12th August 2012 – or on completion of the works, if earlier or later.

Stagecoach in Fife/Stagecoach Strathtay Service 42 will operate to a temporary timetable, which you can now download. The bus will divert between Tayport and the Tay Road Bridge via St Michaels and the A914. Journeys to/from Cupar will therefore do a double-run between Tayport and St Michaels. The temporary timetable provides two buses an hour between Dundee and Tayport during the day.

Moffat & Williamson Service 92 will operate from Newport High St via Cupar Rd, Victoria St, Albert Crescent, Station Brae, Norwood, Craighead Crescent, East Queen St, James St, Tay St, terminate at Tay Bridge Car Park.

Stagecoach in Fife/Stagecoach Strathtay 96/96A will also operate to a temporary timetable, which you can now download. Most Service 96’s will miss out Tayport entirley, but evening and Sunday 96/96A services will serve Tayport – by double-running between St Michaels and Tayport. Also see the temporary timetable for Service 42 for complete details of the Tayport – Dundee buses during this work.

Fishers Tours Scottish Express Services 259, 260, 261, 262 will bypass Tayport for the duration of this closure.

A free taxi shuttle service will be provided for passengers within Tayport (including Scotscraig) who have difficulty in meeting their bus connections.

Passengers may call the taxi shuttle service for travel to their nearest interchange point, please book your return taxi journey with the taxi driver.

National Express Dundee DaySaver5 reduced to £5.00 for the duration of the school holidays – normally £7.00. (5 people, any bus, any time, all day).

Tayport Roadworks have been completed early, and Services 42, 92, 96/96A, and Scottish Express Services via Tayport, have resumed normal route and timetable, effective Saturday 21st July 2012.
Monday 13th August 2012 will see changes to Fife and Perthshire, but these appear somewhat minor on some routes, with big changes elsewhere. Read details of all changes in August 2012 on this blog post, but the changes as they affect Dundee are as follows;

Service 16/16A/16B: Perth – Errol – Inchture – Longforgan – Dundee
There will be some minor adjustments to the route and timetable during the day, with certain eastbound 16A journeys serving Walnut Grove road end instead of Glendoick turning circle. On Monday to Saturday evenings there will be a reduction in the number of journeys, and the Sunday evening journeys will be withdrawn. A new Service 816 will run between Kingoodie, Invergowrie and Harris Academy, Dundee, stopping only at the school within Dundee City boundary.  Download a new timetable here.

Service 59: Blairgowrie – Coupar Angus – Dundee
A revised timetable will be introduced on this service to improve reliability, with off-peak journeys operating to/from Blairgowrie, Wellmeadow only, instead of Rattray. Download a new timetable here.

Park + Ride Service 301: Perth, Broxden and City Centre LIMITED STOP
Stagecoach in Perth will run Service 301 (Broxden Park + Ride – Perth City Centre) every 15 minutes, with two repainted Gold7 buses (these are about to be replaced with new hybrids). The current service is every 10 minutes, by Smith & Sons Coaches. Download a new timetable here.

Service 333: Perth Royal Infirmary – Ninewells Hospital – Royal Victoria Hospital
The evening and weekend journeys on this service will be withdrawn, along with the 0610 Ninewells to PRI journey on Mondays to Fridays. Services 16/16A/16B will continue to provide alternative travel options at these times. UPDATED 27th JULY 2012 – new 333 timetable now online.

Over the coming weeks, passengers on Stagecoach Strathtay 57 between Dundee, Blairgowrie and Perth will notice new buses. They had been running for a few months, before going south for the Olympics. Now they are back, you will notice route branding for Service 57, as well as free WiFi on board.

From Monday 27th August 2012, connecting service 107 (all stops between Montrose and Stonehaven) sees quite a few buses removed from the timetable, and one or two additions. There are no changes to Service X7 or 113 at this time. but see 5th November 2012 changes below!

What might have been – National Express Dundee (then called Travel Dundee) did win the 137/138/139 contract back in 2005 – but missed off £200/day from the contract price – which they offered at £67/day – so the contract remained with Strathtay until 2009 when TeeJay took over, and now… well, a look back at what might have been then, but what is now (although the blind doesn’t show Pink Cottages, it was the last farestage on the Auchterhouse loop…) the Excels were not fitted with the blind, but the publicity person at the time was keen to show what could be done…

From Friday 12th (5N) or Sunday 14th (everything else) of October 2012, changes will be happening to National Express Dundee Night Owl Service 5N, plus daytime services 1A/1B, 5, 28/29, and 137/137A. Further details to follow.

UPDATED 14th SEPTEMBER 2012
Service 1A, 1B will operate to a revised timetable. The service will still have the same number of buses and drivers, but the running time will be increased for enhanced reliability, for the first time in many years! 1A and 1B will both serve the Stack Leisure Park (except in early mornings). As a result both 1A and 1B will run every 20 minutes, combining to every 10 minutes. St Johns RC HS duplicate in the afternoon withdrawn, but the bus due to pass at this time will be allocated a double deck bus, to offer the same capacity. Download a new timetable here. Monday to Friday off-peak – buses every 7-8 minutes to Barnhill, 15 minutes to Sensation, 15 minutes to Ninewells Hospital, 30 minutes to Technology Park. Update 29th October – no service to Sensation Mon-Fri, weekends only.
Saturday – (as now) – buses every 10 minutes to Barnhill, 20 minutes to Sensation, 20 minutes to Ninewells Hospital, 20 minutes to Technology Park.

From Monday 8th October 2012, changes to Citylink/Megabus/Parks joint venture routes with a lot more buses running through from Edinburgh to Aberdeen. As ever, download new timetables for Edinburgh – Aberdeen, Edinburgh – Dundee, Glasgow – Aberdeen or Glasgow – Dundee.

From Monday 29th October 2012, changes are introduced to First Scotland East Service 651 to Livingston (via Ferrytoll for Dundee), with extra buses added to replace another withdrawn service. At the same time, the company did intend to withdraw Service 15 from Alloa via Kincardine to Falkirk (connect at Kincardine for buses towards North Fife and connections towards Dundee), but the local authority stepped in as F15. From Monday 5th November 2012, M W Nicoll will withdraw Service 113 between Stonehaven and Montrose, but Stagecoach Bluebird will be introducing a lot of new daytime journeys to replace some of these. At the same time, other changes occur to Service 16/16A/16B/16X (additional journeys funded by the NHS to replace withdrawn 333 buses) Service 42 (Fife journeys will pass to Strathtay), Service 96/96A (entire service passes to Strathtay except 26th December and 2nd January!), Service X54 (changes to some peak buses now serving Amazon Dunfermline) plus other changes to connecting services (with the introduction of new longer coaches on the Glasgow express services) X37/X40 (22nd October 2012 – some journeys curtailed), 38/39 (22nd October 2012 – some journeys curtailed), 53/57, 55, X24, X26/X27, X58/X60, X59 (22nd October 2012 – one PM journey curtailed) , 747.

From Monday 26th November 2012, Stagecoach will operate a new Service 74 from Broughty Ferry, Gray Street, to Dundee City Centre, along with new times on Service 57. New timetables will be online in due course.
Update 5th November 2012 – Service 57 will be increased to operate every 30 minutes between Blairgowrie, Coupar Angus, Burrleton and Perth, as the peak time buses will now stay out all day, Monday to Friday between the peaks. These additional journeys will be operated by step-entrance buses – and there is no change to the Dundee service. Download a new timetable here.
Service 74 is a new service from Dundee City Centre via Broughty Ferry Road, Greendykes Road, Craigie Avenue, Strathern Road, Claypotts Road, Brook Street (Broughty Ferry) to terminate at Broughty Ferry, Gray Street. This new service provides more journeys on top of the current Services 5, 73-73E, 75, 78A-79C, 206, and will also run every 30 minutes, Monday to Friday only. Both National Express and Stagecoach have continued to invest in new buses and coaches for services across the area. From Monday 7th January 2013 some changes are being made to Stagecoach Strathtay 78A/78C/79A/79C (Monikie Circular) plus Stagecoach Fife connecting Service 95 between St Andrews and Leven. On the Monikie Circular, some buses in the afternoon will run 5-10 mintues earlier or later. On Service 95, one afternoon bus is rerouted on schooldays. From Monday 14th January 2013 Fishers Tours introduce the 2013 timetables for Scottish Express servics. Some routes are retimed, some withdrawn (a few Brechin routes now start from Forfar), and some new routes introduced. Right-click and “Save File…” or “Save Target…” on this one – it’s a 28mb file – which you can download here. UPDATE 16th January 2013 – this file has been replaced with a 12mb version instead. I scanned it from the paper copy as 28mb was far too big to upload – everytime our server timed out after about 55%. From Monday 9th February 2013 Smith & Sons Services 1/2 and 77 will be withdrawn. The last day of operation should therefore be Friday 6th February 2013 (77) or Saturday 7th February 2013 (1/2).

From Sunday 17th February 2013 National Express Dundee will be introducing changes to some services. Full details to follow.

UPDATE 05/02/2013 – full details now online. Service 1C has a revised timetable in the afternoon, as does Service 5. Services 15/17 is reduced to every 12 mins Whitfield – City with 2 buses an hour to Ninewells & Tech Park. Services 18/19 and Service 22 see extra early morning buses, revised peak period timetables (18/19) and more early evening buses (22) with a later bus back on Service 22 continuing to St Marys and Ardler as Service 22B. Service 28/29 will have a revised timetable in the peaks, more buses in the early evening and later buses/earlier Sunday services. Service 32/33 will have a new timetable for reliability, which also sees a totally seperate timetable on Fridays. Click the links for the timetables of your choice.

From Monday 25th March 2013 there will be minor changes to some journeys on Stagecoach Service 99-99D (St Andrews – Dundee). There will be minor retimings on services 99A and 99C within St Andrews and the route of service 99B will be revised to serve Broomfaulds Avenue.  Monday to Friday journeys between 1700 and 1800 will be retimed to improve reliability.  The 0745 St Andrews to Dundee and 0812 Dundee to St Andrews Monday to Friday journeys will run 2 minutes earlier. From Monday 15th April 2013 a number of services across Aberdeenshire will be changing. This includes Service X7 to Dundee, which will have a small number of minor changes. From Sunday 26th May 2013 National Express Dundee will be making changes to a number of services, with all the details still to follow. postponed until 30th June 2013. The following day, a number of contracts from Angus Council will be tweaked, or change hands, but not to the level of the previous year. Keep watching for all the details.

National Express Dundee Services 30/31/51 (Fowlis – Liff/Muirhead – Ninewwells Hospital – Invergowrie) – Mon-Sat
Stagecoach Strathtay 51 (Fowlis – Liff – Dundee City Centre) – Sunday
Two morning peak journeys from Birkhill, Piperdam, Fowlis, Liff and Ninewells Hospital will run directly to Dundee City Centre via Charleston Drive, Milnbank Road and Westport, as Service 51. There will also be one extra more journey in the peaks between Ninewells and the City Centre, inbetween buses on Service 30/31;
Service no longer will serve Invergowrie;
Two peak journeys will also operate back to Liff, Fowlis, Piperdam and Birkhill from Dundee in the afternoon peak period[
Hourly combined Service 30 and 31 will continue to run during the main part of the day with journeys being extended to Piperdam;
Service 30, 31 and 51 will serve the new Asda store on Myrekirk Road when it opens in July 2013;
There are minor changes to the Sunday timetable with journeys being extended to and from Piperdam, and serving Ninewells Hospital. Sunday journeys will also be operated by National Express Dundee.

Stagecoach Strathtay Service 73/73A/73B (Arbroath – Carnoustie – Dundee – Ninewells Hospital)
Service 73 journeys on Mondays to Fridays departing Ninewells Hospital at 16:15, 16:45, 17:15 and 17:45 will also serve Monifieth Broomhill Drive;
An additional Service 73B will run on Sunday mornings departing from Carnoustie Westhaven Park at 09:41;
There are minor changes to departure times from Ninewells Hospital on Sundays;
Service 73C has been renumbered as Service 73 on Monday to Saturday evenings and Sundays;
Service 73E has been renumbered as Service 73A on Monday to Saturday evenings;
Services no longer call at the Technology Park, Invergowrie or Kingoodie; all buses now start or terminate at Ninewells Hospital.

Revised Service 28 will run both ways Liff Road – Buttars Road – Brownhill Road – Balgarthno
Terrace – turn and return – Charleston Street – Dunholm Road – terminus – Dunholm Road to
Myrekirk Road – Asda Dundee West.
Revised Service 29 will run both ways South Road – Craigard Road – Craigowan Road – Dunholm

Alpin Road. The loop in Douglas is Ballindean Road – Balunie Avenue – Balmoral Avenue – Balunie

As part of these changes, some further services have been registered from the same date. Please
note that the introductory date is actually school holidays – so these services will start on Tuesday
12th August 2013. Existing services 1A, 1B, 9S, 10S, 22 will also provide close links, as well as the
new Outer Circle group. Also, passengers can also use Services 5, changing in town to Service 1A/1B.

From Tuesday 16th July 2013 a change was made to connecting service Service 651 (Dunfermline for Dundee – Ferrytoll for Dundee – Livingston) where the service has been diverted via St Johns Hospital instead of the Fastlink “spine”. You can download a new timetable.

From Monday 12th August 2013 a number of bus services will be changing in Fife. Below you can find the details for services to/from Dundee, or connecting services. For full details on the entire service change package, see http://heretothereshop.com/blog/?p=1528

Service X42 (Ninewells Hospital – Ladybank – Kirkcaldy) will be revised to provide additional stopping points will be added at Whyteman’s Brae (Kirkcaldy) and the Scottish Deer Centre (Bow of Fife). You can download a new timetable.

There are also changes to connecting Services 38/39 and Services X37/X40 (Kirkcaldy – Glenrothes corridor), Service 41/41A/41B (Kirkcaldy – Cupar for Dundee), Service 43/44/46/X4 (Leven – Glenrothes corridor), Service 95 (Leven – Crail – St Andrews for Dundee) and Jet Service 747 (Edinburgh Airport – Ferrytoll for Dundee – Inverkeithing for Dundee by train). The following week, Monday 19th Augut 2013 a further change will be made to connecting Services 15/F15 (Alloa – Kincardine for St Andrews – Falkirk) where the entire service durng the day passes to Stagecoach as F15 with some placing journeys as Service 15. This route will run every two hours, and you can download a new timetable which includes details of all buses from Dunfermline (for Dundee) or Kincardine to Alloa, Stirling and Falkirk.

Also on Monday 19th August 2013 CoastRider Express Service X7 (Dundee – Arbroath – Montrose – Stonehaven – Aberdeen) will be revised. At the moment the service is split between Stagecoach Strathtay Dundee depot, Stagecoach Bluebird ABerdeen depot, and Stagecoach Bluebird Stonehaven depot. The work from the last two is moving to Stagecoach Strathtay Arbroath depot, whcih will eman chnages to early and late buses. You can download a new timetable which includes details of a new stop and Wheelchair space booking line.

taking a 99 to St Andrews or Guardbridge, then a 23 to Dollar/Alva or X24 to Kincardine. From there, Services H1 and H2 will take you the rest of the way. Also added today was information on the National Express Dundee discovr Smart Card and also information on a minor lunchtime change on the Perth (Broxden) Park + Ride service.

From Sunday 29th September 2013, National Express Dundee made some changes to Service 30/31/51 (Piper Dam – Fowlis/Muirhead – Liff Hospital/Birkhill – Asda – Tesco – Ninewells Hospital – 51 to City Centre) and Service 205 (Asda – Tesco – Ninewwells Hospital) to improve reliability (each service is now every 70 mins off peak, and the 51’s on Sunday now also serve Birkhill and Muirhead). Download a new timetable for each service by clicking on the route numbers. The Outer Circle will also be revised with some Saturday daytime buses serving Camperdown Leisure Park, some off-peak buses serving the Lothian Crescent area of Whitfield, and timetable changes throughout the day.

From Monday 7th October 2013 Citylink/Parks/Megabus will commence a Winter timetable. Aside from seasonal changes, the Edinburgh – Aberdeen through hourly journeys introduced last year will be reduced. Download timetables for Glasgow-Dundee, Glasgow-Aberdeen, Edinburgh-Dundee or Edinburgh-Aberdeen. Cross-border services have changed a little, and timetables for those are coming soon. Further changes at the end of November will see Edinburgh services removed from Ferrytoll P&R and moved to the new Halbeath P&R, where more connections will be on offer (See below).

From Modnay 14th October 2013 major changes will be intrroduced to the Aberdeen – Portlethen – Stonehaven section of Service X7/X6/7/7A/7B/7C/8. There are no changes to Dundee journeys on Service X7, and a new service using a previously out-of-service bus will run as Service 109 between Stonehaven Depot and Laurencekirk prior to/after the Stagecoach journeys from Montrose to Laurencekirk. Following some cuts in Stonehaven at this point, an additional Service 106 will be operated by Nicolls from the same date. Download a new timetable for each service by clicking on the route numbers.

New “Website Only” timetables for Birkhill (filed after 57) and Ballumbie Castle (filed after Monikie Circular/78A-79C) these being complete summaries of all services. Updated Ring of Breadalbane Explorer timetable added, as the last one missed a few points.

Also I previously ommitted the timetables that changed on 30th September 2013 – largely as they are changing again end of November (See abive!) but this time is for Amazon shift work changes at Dunfermline. Service X24
On Mondays to Saturdays the 2305 journey from Dunfermline will no longer divert via Amazon, but follow the normal route to Glenrothes (arr.2335)

Service X26/X27
No changes but timetable reissued. The early morning Service X33 has been withdrawn, which appeared on this timetable, and replaced with extra 33 journeys (which are not).

Service X54
On Mondays to Fridays the 0555 journey from Glenrothes to Edinburgh will no longer divert via Amazon, and will therefore operate 5 minutes later than currently scheduled between Glenrothes and Crossgates.

INDUSTRIAL ACTION UPDATE 21st December 2013:

National Express Dundee bus drivers are expecting to continue a overtime ban on Fridays and Mondays, until further notice. Please keep an eye on the company Service Alerts page, twitter feed or Facebook page, where they will make known individual cancellations. On Monday 15th, the disruption was spread throughout the most frequent services, but this happening on future dates this depends on which duties need covered, and which drivers don’t turn up. This is an issue which the company is dealing with, and the drivers have a grievance. If you need to know more, contact National Express Dundee via the links given.

colours, complete with Santa’s whiskers and tinsel on the grabrails inside – working the 208 a few weekends back.

Update 26th November 2013: new timetables now online for 35/36, 50, 56, 99, 747, X8/X26/X27, X24, X52, X53/X57, X54, X59, X61, and there was also some minor timetable and route changes to the Service 17 (Perth – Dunning – Auchterarder, Gleneagles Hotel) with a revised route at Dunning and some more journeys extended to the point where the route meets the A9, and the Citylink/Parks/Megabus services to Edinburgh now generally use Halbeath not Ferrytoll. There will also be a direct link from Kirkcaldy and Dunfermline to Forth Valley Royal Hospital, which will mean Dundee passengers travellng there need only change once from an X42 at Kirkcaldy or an X54 at Dunfermline, where starting from Dundee. Some other minor unrelated changes include an extra morning bus on Service 99 from Dundee to St Andrews. Update 26th November 2013: new timetables via the links above.

From Friday 29th November 2013 National Express Dundee will introduce changes to Night Owl Service 5N, which will see a new route and timetable to include Douglas on route to the ‘Ferry. This change was postponed from 29/09/13. Futher details will be online soon. Update 26th November 2013: download new times and route description, which start this weekend!

Update 13th December – a combined company leaflet and route description can now be downloaded. I have also admended the 5 timetable online to remove the old times for Service 5N, but there is no change to the timetable for Service 5. We did take the time to make the corrections to the leaflet, that the company advised back in June.

Now uploaded are the PDF editions of the Tickets Guide for Stagecoach Fife, and Stagecoach Perth/Strathtay. Also now uploaded is a Dundee City Centre bus stops guide, taken from the large panel posters you can see on the City Centre bus stops. There is also a new Angus Council Index to Services and places Served, and a brand new Getting Around Fife map with all changes to December 2013. Angus have also reissued the combined 27 timetable for National Express Dundee and Stagecoach Strathtay, and the 140/141 timetable betweeb Arbroath and Brechin (the latter has an updated Arbroath-Brechin/Stracathro summary, but the former is only formatting changes). The timetable for Service X42 has been reissued to include a missing stopping place at Forgan Roundabout, and you can also download a Stagecoach East scotland Fife express network map. Finally Stagecoach service F15 to Falkirk/Alloa is revised to include Letham and Carronshore from Monday 16th December 2013. Follow each of the links for the files you need. There are a number of other leaflets updated and links fixed at the same time. There are also updates to many of the summary timetables, which you can find towards the end of the grid.

21st December 2013 Picked up a revised copy of the 138/139 timetable (October 2012) on a recent visit to the NXD Travel Shop. (well more than one but you know what I’m like by now!) It’s not yet been on the NXD website as a PDF. ‘ve scanned it to replace the old one with the correction page, and it can be downloaded here.
You can now also download a January 2014 Dundee City Bus Map, which includes some updates and corrections, plus the Service 201 and 203 changes starting in January 2014. It can now be downloaded here. There has also been a reissue (now on paper as well as just a PDF) of the National Express/DCC Service 202, with the new route and date on the cover, which you can download here.

You can also download here a updated Dundee City Centre Bus Stop Map with a list of destinations, services and stops, correct to November 2013.

From Monday 6th January 2014 revised timetables will be applied to National Express Dundee 201 and 203. At the moment (29/11), no further details.

Update 13th December – new timetable leaflets/routes for Services 201 and Service 203 are now ready to download.
Note that there are changes to the route more than the times, and some areas are no longer served – 201 will run in a loop
at Kings Cross Hosp/Johnston Avenue, while in Douglas the bus will run along Arbroath Road, not Broughty Ferry Road.
Serice 203 will be tweaked with a smaller loop around Ardler & St Marys, while at Dryburgh, the route will only serve
the bus stop at the first roundabout on Langshaw Road – in other words, the stop next to the Sheltered Housing complex.

We have been supplied with the dates for the Scottish Express services in 2014. There will be no changes from this year, so the dates are more or less the same as now. This information is to follow in full, and we will have an updated guide later in 2013.

Update 13th December – Fishers Scottish Express dates for 2014 are now online, as is a new timetable book with all the 2014 dates added.

Some minor changes have been implemented on the Citylink/Megabus/Parks “joint venture” services, with a new Glasgow/Aberdeen summary now online. To refresh the Megabus cross-border services, we have uploaded a timetable for the M11 Megabus seated day and night London service, and the S9/S11/S20 Megabusgold Sleeper services to London.

From Sunday 19th January 2014, the full National Express Dundee fare rise is effective. Click here for full details of the increases.

From Monday 3rd March 2014, Stagecoach will be making changes to Service X54 (Dundee – Glenrothes – Dunfermline – Edinburgh). Services will additionally stop at Roysth Halt (rail station) and the Sunday service is retimed to improve the connection onto the X59. Click/tap here for a full new timetable. 24th December 2013; National Express Dundee fares are varying from 5th January 2014. At the moment, all that is known is this about the Travelcards/Bus Passes.
UPDATE 6th January 2014: Still no further information, although Citylink fares are increasing today. Have the fares increased? We’ve had no word of anyone saying so yet, so presume for now that this is all. Further information will be relayed as soon as we get it on this, or any new year overtime problems.

Sunday 2nd February 2014 – we will be five on 11th! Also, we’ve tidied up the Roadworks information, with the Roadworks list now in the main block of Links, alongside Tactran Connect and Dundee LiftShare.

Wednesday 12th March 2014 WHERE HAVE WE BEEN? Well, simply… our webhost didn’t renew the domain name, despite we’d paid for it. We got a full refund and apology – but then we requested escalation. Nothing happened, so we’ve switched everything to a brand new host! We now have dundeebuses.com as welll as dundeebuses.info so please take your pick! Sorry to disappear without warning – that is NOT what I intend to do. The Teapots Web Hosting company had already lost a domain of ours, and I was making dammed sure we did not make it two! …We Were Five on 11th February 2014…

From Monday 7th April 2014, Stagecoach Strathtay will be making changes to Service 57 (change to the AVIVA journeys for reliability) and Service X7 (changes again for reliability). New timetables to follow.

UPDATE 12th MARCH AGAIN AT 1615: Stagecoach have now announced details of the changes, which includes an expansion on the X7 to run every hour on Sundays!

Service 57: Dundee – Blairgowrie – Perth 
The 0550 Blairgowrie to Dundee and 0645 Dundee to Blairgowrie (schoolday and school holiday) journeys will run 5 minutes earlier.  The 0730 Blairgowrie (Haugh Road) to Perth College, 0750 Blairgowrie to Perth Aviva schoolday and 0752 Blairgowrie to Perth Aviva school holiday journeys will be retimed to improve reliability, operating up to 5 minutes earlier than at present but maintaining the same arrival times in Perth.
UPDATE FROM 12th JUNE 2014; This service is changing again on Monday 30th June 2014 – new timetable here (see below for what has changed).

Service X7: Dundee – Montrose – Stonehaven – Aberdeen 
In response to growing passenger demand, the Sunday timetable will be improved to an hourly frequency from the current two-hourly service.  In addition some weekday peak time journeys arriving into Aberdeen before 0900 and departing Aberdeen after 1700 will be retimed to improve reliability.
UPDATE MONDAY 7th MAY; at my request Stagecoach have updated the timetable to include the extra short journey from Stonehaven to Montrose at 06.37, which then connects with the coach through to Arbroath and Montrose. This journey is operated as part of the 107 service from Stonehaven depot and was missed out from the last Stagecoach timetables. Download the revised edition here.

UPDATE FROM 12th JUNE 2014; Service X5 runs direct along the A930 and does NOT serve Greendykes Road or Craigie Avenue, which is now served by the Service 5 and Outer Circle instead, as well as Stagecoach 74. A corrected timetable will be uploaded ASAP.

UPDATE FROM 12th JUNE 2014; Service 14 now also runs on Dunde Public Holiday Mondays to the usual timetable, as opposed to not running with the rest of the services running Saturday service. An updatedtimetable will be uploaded ASAP.

From Monday 2nd June 2014, a number of timetable changes will happen in Angus, as a result of tender awards by Angus Council. Services 78A-79C (Monikie Circular) will pass from Stagecoach to TeeJay Travel, and the service will no longer serve Dundee Bus Station (but will stop opposite it, as it does now after going Seagate Bus Stn – High St – Seagate). The Technology Park extension in the morning will also go. Some other service changes are expected and will be posted when known.

Angus 27-27C Angus 36 Angus Arbroath Town Services Angus Montrose Town Services Angus Forfar Town Services, Angus 78A/78C/79A/79C Monikie Circular Angus 81 Angus 115/116/new 127 Angus 120/121 Angus 122 (130 withdrawn) Angus 124/125 Angus 128/129, plus a copy of the Angus Network Map.
Changes in Dundee; 78A/79C as predicted above, plus 81 (Carnoustie – Baldovie Toll or Kirkbuddo – Forfar) will extend onto Forfar Aldi and Lid stores afterwards, when it continues as a Service 27. Passengers are able to travel through.
Substantial changes to the other routes outwith the City of Dundee.

Outside Angus but still in the former Tayside area, Service 204 in Dollar/Kinross was withdrawn, but a replacement is explained by following the link to the DRT1 timetable/brochure which provides a longer day of service, six days a week, when pre-booked. Kinross-area Services 201, 202, 203, 205 continue unchanged for now.

UPDATE FROM 12th JUNE 2014; Citylink (909 973) and the Citylink/Megabus/Parks of Hamilton “joint venture” (the rest) timetables for the Summer 2014 have now been added to the site, sorry for the delay – 909/Dunblane – Stirling – Edinburgh, 973/Dundee – Oban, Dundee – Edinburgh, Dundee – Glasgow, Aberdeen – Edinburgh, Aberdeen – Glasgow, Inverness – Edinburgh, Inverness – Glasgow.

Service and Fare changes – last updated Thursday 3rd July 2014

 

From Monday 30th June 2014 there are many changes to Stagecoach services around Perth, and a full list can be fouund at http://heretotherepublishing.com/blog/?p=2167. As part of this, Service 17 is extended to Gleneagles Station on some journeys, Service 7 no longer serves Scone Park & Ride outwith a school journey, but 57 (Dundee – Blairgowrie – Perth) will do instead. To align things, the short Service 57 from Perth to Scone Airport in the morning becomes a 7A. From Monday 7th July 2014, the cross-Glenshee link will start again for the Summer, but this time as 501 between Blairgowrie, Glenshee, Carinwell, Braemar, and Ballater. Connections will be availabile on Services 201/202 and 210 towards Banchory and Aberdeen – click here for a summary of Stagecoach connections towards Banchory, Westhill, Crathie or Stonehaven.

From mid-August 2014 major changes in North East Fife, including through services to Dundee, as well as some minor changes in Aberdeenshire including a cross-border service to Montrose. Details to follow.

Updated further on Thursday 12th June 2014 with further changes to services and timetables throughout the Summer.

 

To summarise the changes from January to September 2014 this year, we’ve put together this handy list. This includes all changes that happened, including those postponed to a later date.

After running on Friday 17th October 2014, National Express Dundee will be ending operation of Service 81 (Carnoustie – Forfar). This service will continue from Monday 20th October 2014 by J P Coaches, until the end of the current contract in May 2015. Service X39 (Dundee – Carnoustie) which is a placing journey for the 81, will be discontinued. Also, the one National Express Dundee journey on the Service 27 will also be withdrawn. From Monday 20th October 2014, National Express Dundee will introduce a revised timetable on Services 36/36A/36C. The daytime service between 07.24 and 17.40 is withdrawn (save for the 09.00 from Commercial Street) on Mondays to Fridays, but buses before and after these times continue on Mondays to Fridays. The Saturday service is withdrawn entirely.

Last Minute Update to plan – Friday 17th October 12.00 – the company have announced that the timetable will continue as it is now, until further notice. The only one change that will now happen is that the

early morning Service 36C will be extended to start from Whifield, Lothian Crescent (as per the daytime 33) instead of the Whitfield Drive former shopping area. Click to download the new Service 36/36A/36C timetables here.

LATE EXTRA From Monday 27th October 2014, Service 23 (St Andrews – Kinross – Stirling) will be retimed. One journey will have up to ten minutes extra running time on Dollar Academy schooldays. Download the new timetable here. VERSION 2 NOW UPLOADED

From Monday 24th November 2014, Service X7 (Dundee – Montrose – Aberdeen) will extend beyond Dundee to serve Perth Royal Infirmary. After Dundee Bus Station, the stops of this service will be Dundee Rail Station, West Port, Sinderins, Royal Victoria Hospital, then via the current stops of Service 333.

This will run every hour Monday to Saturday, with as two-hourly Perth service on Sundays (the original Aberdeen – Dundee route remains hourly).

This will be a much-enhanced replacement for HospitalLink Service 333, which will now become part of the X7, after Friday 21st November 2014.

UPDATE 8th NOVEMBER 2014 At the same time, there will be changes to Service 39 (adjusted to fit the new times of Service X7), with minor timetable changes to odd journeys on Services 27-27C (one bus running earlier to better serve Forfar Academy) and 30/30A (one 30 running from a 39 is retimed, to suit the new 39 timetable). The final change will be Arbroath Town Service 43, which will be removed from Arbroath High Street to improve reliability. New timetables will be online when they are ready. From Monday 8th December 2014, Nicolls will withdraw the 52 Montrose Town Service in it’s current format. Further details of potential replcements will follow when known.

From Monday 5th January 2015, there will be further changes to Services M8, M9/G9, G10, M90, M91, M92/G92, M93, by Scottish Citylink/Megabus/Parks of Hamilton. New timetables will be online when they are ready.
